Yeah, but usually it's replaced with some "you can't do this" image instead.  Weird.  Anyway, to keep us back on track:

Purplish Rain

Pretty fucking boring.  But then again, what do you expect when blah bands are covering a classic.  The only decent standouts are the Twilight Singers pretty cool take on Doves Cry and Let's Go Crazy, because let's face it, if you cover that song faithfully, it's gonna rule.

lemme try:

huh, not working for me either... looks like blogspot isn't letting us link to its pix.  some sites do this to reduce non-revenue-generating traffic.

the other night I sat in a car with a ridiculously high-end stereo system and listened to Mastodon's new Crack the Skye from start to finish while watching planes land at National. It was absolutely amazing. That album is so good, and at any moment, there usually are several interesting things going on. If it weren't for that pesky Fever Ray, this would be my early favorite for album of the year.

A couple spotty moments but when they get it right, they blow me away. The kind of songs that make me want to see them live just to feel those songs penetrate through my body. You know, 'the bliss', as we gazers call it.

My Bloody Valentine 6/24/2008

The best sounding live recording of these reunion shows that I've come across thus far. A good representation of YMMR on tape is impossible to capture but everything else sounds as close as one can hope for.

Has anyone checked out that Beck Record Club version of VU & Nico?  Just ran through it and it's pretty great.  Pretty inventive but still faithful to the originals  Super loose sounding, but I guess that's the point.  Honestly, this is probably the most interesting thing he's done in a decade.  The first Leonard Cohen song didn't strike me much, but still interested to hear it.

I know he just started Songs of Leonard Cohen, but I read it was going to be EVOL, which is probably a bit radder than Daydream.  Seems like it would have more room to experiment with that one.  Either way, it's a pretty interesting concept, for sure.
