what a great movie... in a wacked out European way

Always wanted to pick this up.. record gives no credit to musicians other than Herbie Hancock and the lone Yardbirds track (apparently the only song to feature both Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.. used to great effect in movie BTW)... anyways from wikipedia it would seem like a real allstar cast of musicians.. unclear if Jimmy Smith really did play on this or not

oh and if you ever wanted to find the sample used by Dee-Lite for Groove is in the Heart..its here.. its Ron Carter on BASS!!!!!!! jammin'!

I like a lot of European cinema of that era but I could never get into Antonioni's work. Just tried rewatching La Avventura earlier this week and was bored to tears.

I honestly don't know much of Antonioni's work, but I do like "Blow Up", if for no other reason than the Yardbirds appearing in it, albeit with Jeff Beck ripping off Pete Townshend at Antonioni's insistence.....

What amuses me about the yardbirds in blowout is how all but the two dudes dancing in the back of the club, the rest of audience is staying still just staring  at the band.  and people acting like this some sort of dc audience only thing   and these were the original hipsters

Their appearance in Blowup came after the Who declined and the In-Crowd were unable to attend the filming. The Velvet Underground were also considered for the part but were unable to acquire UK work permits.

Ok this does sound kind of cobbled together from shoddy outtakes with sub-standard sound against the his wishes.. .some of it just stuff being tested for his first solo record... still, amusing that I find more to like it in this than most stuff..Mariott's heart is always in the right place
