The 2 cd reissue is amazing...adds a bunch of tracks from remain in light tour...wonderful stuff

I had no idea the 2cd issue added 15 tracks!

That's actually my favorite Talking Heads record...the double CD issue.

New Order-Lowlife

Damn, it's still an amazing album.

When I was much younger, I worked at an amusement park for a couple of summers. I was a carny ride operator. One of the summers, I had an Ayn Rand reading mate who sarcastically dubbed some of our more scruffy co-carnies as "up and comers." Ah, good times.

The worst part of the job was cleaning up the puke. The best part of the job was I got to play my own cassettes over the sound system to thrill the ride goers. I'm sure they were hoping for Def Leppard or whatever else was popular in the mid-80's, but instead they got a lot of this album. The other weird thing was I had shitloads of trashy teenage girls who insisted on me posing for pictures with them.

I was a carny ride operator.
. . . and the last piece of the puzzle falls into place.

yes, this explains a lot
were you considered an 'up and comer' or was that for those who looked to have a life time of Carny ride work

You're not a real carny unless you slept in a boxcar traveling from depressing small town to depressing small town smoking a lot of meth.

I know...I'm questioning the validity now too
he looks like he could fit the bill, but some of the 'color' of the story seems to go no where

Howlin wolf- This is Howlin Wokf’s New album. He doesn’t like it. He didn’t like his electric guitar at first either.

Found a copy of the original lp for $1...beat but works fine...I like it even if Wolf didn’t

I think my friend's point was that we were undergrads making some spending money from a summer job, whereas the  people he was calling "up and comers" were seasonal workers who relied on getting laid off at the end of the season so they could collect six months of unemployment checks and come back to their carny job the next year.
