Probably for the best.  Those last run of DC shows were some of the best I had seen (DC historically always had lame setlists IMO, but I'm probably biased from seeing them for as long and as often as I did), so they went out on a good run.  Plus, it didn't seem like any new music was on the horizon.

Back on top, i just got that Scratch Acid box set for Christmas (it was a preorder).  really great to have all of their output in one place like this. I'm pretty sure the previous collection was missing some stuff.

I would imagine it would be hard for Deaner to continue if he has any addiction issues which I have to think is what this is about. Not sure how Gener did it…

For me Ween really is associated with partying. Just listening to their music makes me want to grab a beer and have a smoke.

I hope Mickey is ok and finds happiness. There comes a time when every man has to tone it down a bit or become non functional and head to an early grave. Very few people can be functional alcohólics and drug addicts…

Hotwax - Hot Shock

the short version is if you like female bands doing riff-tastic swaggering rock and roll not unlike The Mysterines this is the record for you

more dumb details

This was a case of me seeing the band name float by me on The Socials recently only for a song to show up on one of those pesky autogenerated playlists and like hmm this is really great and made the connection.

they got a 5 star review from the NME with highlights like this

The Hastings band’s first record is scuzzy, snarling and a whole lot of fun

Straddling the worlds of grunge, punk and swaggering rock & roll, every track on ‘Hot Shock’ is a ferocious, unruly beast that’s allowed to stomp around.

Like Queens Of The Stone Age at their party-starting best, HotWax’s debut album is full of filthy rock’n’roll that’s made for dancing. That next great guitar band has arrived.

all further proof guitar rock isn't dead...

Still enjoy this one. Definitely a noticeable Smiths influence.

Back in the day I got this tape for free when I forgot to send my card in saying I didn’t want the record club monthly selection

A contender for my favorite album.

I bought this for $56 all in on epay. This is the kind of shit that gives record collectors a very bad name. I must have ten other vinyl copies but what jumped out at me was the non promo white label on side 2 with a regular label on side one. Probably just a mistake but for such an important record I just couldn’t help buying it. A third pressing probably from the same year as the first and second: 1975.  I will probably submit it to the searching for a gem website and see if they take it and what they think if anything.

The music as always: glorious. Has anybody ever made a movie around Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts?
