Sharp Pins - Radio DDR

when the opening line of the review is "Radio DDR is a spectacularly good Guided By Voices album—only it comes from Chicago-based Sharp Pins, the solo project of Lifeguard guitarist Kai Slater." you know it's going be a great listen.

and while looking at Kai Slater's background, here is a 20 year old with already three Sharp Pins albums and three prior releases as Dwaal Troupe, not to mention and album and several EPs with Lifeguard.  and if all that isn't enough he was a zine as well

all this while i sit in my chair and just want to back to bed.

and of course the Lifeguard album is angular and punk in sharp contrast to Sharp Pins.

also this description of Sharp Pins made me chuckle

you can practically hear Slater channeling Robert Pollard channeling Alex Chilton channeling George Harrison.
