Buying tickets the night of the show?

Ive been to many shows and never had a problem buying tickets ahead of time until this upcoming bright eyes show.  I would like to go but I dont want to pay 3x face value for a ticket (current online prices).  For those that have done this before, how reasonable would it be to show up at the club the night of the show and buy a ticket for close to face value?

Could I ask then, what happens to the scalper tickets that don't sell online?  Right now there are ~486 tickets available on scalper websites (going by oyaka.com).  Even if this is a bit of an over estimate, I dont think they will all sell before the show at inflated prices.  After all, its just bright eyes.  You guys act like the beatles are having a reunion show.  I am not expecting one for face, just something more reasonable than $70.

My friend had no problem getting a ticket for face value before Belle and Sebastian in March.

belle&sebastian also played 2 shows at the club, and are not nearly as big as bright eyes.

I would argue that Belle and Sebastian have a bigger following, but that's beside the point.
 
 Get to the club early and just solicit everyone who comes up.  You'd be surprised what you can get.

the one thing about an anticipated show like this is that people tend to buy several tickets, and often have friends bail at the last minute.
 
 I think you can get tickets if you get there when doors open, and are willing to stick it out for a while.
 
 I've been stuck with tickets to sold out shows because I waited until too late after doors open to sell an extra ticket.
 
 There are more people than you think who sell the ticket for face value (including fees, etc) just because they want someone who would enjoy the show to use an extra ticket.

they're right; more often than not, there is somebody outside who will sell you a ticket.  i had to pick up some tickets at the verizon center the night of the fall out boy show and since i was in the area, i decided to see if i could find a ticket to the show outside, as I have a soft spot new found glory.  it was blistering cold, but i found one after about 10 minutes of waiting.  just ask everybody.
 
 for me personally, i would rather pay more and have my ticket rather than take the risk of not getting to see the show at all; but then again, i have to come from out of town to see 930 shows, so my opinion is different.  
 
 and no alex, belle & sebastian don't have a larger following that bright eyes.  no way.

Didn't both nights of Belle and Sebastian sell out almost as fast?  Maybe I'm wrong.

the difference is B&S isn't nearly as big outside of the DC area.  Like, their Chicago show took a few weeks to sell out.  I think that's my point; every single show on this bright eyes show sold out in minutes, all over the country.  Not just the DC show.  As a whole, Bright Eyes def. has a bigger fanbase.
