Radiohead 'In Rainbows' vs. U2 'POP'
« on: October 18, 2008, 03:07:00 pm »
I recently re-listened to 'POP' and I swear it sounds like 'In Rainbows' 10 years before Radiohead tried this kind of sound. If you have this album buried in your collection like me (and judging by the sales, you may not), give it another listen, you may be in for a surprise.

I'm not either. Give it a listen, I didn't buy it either, but it's pretty freaking good.

I like both albums, but I don't get the comparison.

POP is mostly crap. U2 did it because everyone else is doing the electronica thing. They were followers at that time, so it doesn't make sense to imply that they influenced Radiohead for "In Rainbows".

Check out 'If God Will Send His Angels','Last Night on Earth', and 'Miami', then imagine Thom Yorke singing...it's eerie.

i did too, i will give perhaps the drum beat on Last Night on Earth a bit of the guitar on Miami, its there somewhat, but quite vague.

Bono's voice is always the problem with U2 anyway.

Spike Stent mixed/engineered Pop and produced In Rainbows

Both U2 and Radiohead are disciples of Bjork.
