Punk Love
« on: February 02, 2007, 10:55:00 pm »
Did anyone else go to the opening tonight at the Govinda Gallery? http://www.dischord.com/news/121 I went and have to say it was SUCH a cool event. Got to talk to Ian Mackaye, Henry Rollins, Jeff Nelson and Susie J (it was a collection of her photos). What a cool time. Henry said that the book is kind of like his yearbook. I think I must have ended up in a bunch of photos being taken, which is kind of wild to be a part of something like that. I just wish I had been around to see Minor Threat. I think this will be on display for the next month, it's really worth checking out.

Hey You Be Betty, Rollins will be back in town in Oct./early November for a spoken word date. He's also doing some kind of spoken word type thing with Janeane Garofalo in NYC in April which he said will be terrific. There's another guy with them, I forgot who he said will be there but he said it will be worth seeing just for those 2 alone.

What was kind of cool was that I talking to someone I know (who knows Rollins) and he just kind of came up and starting talking with us. He's totally approachable, just bear in mind that he hates drunks and people that invade his personal space. I've met him a number of times though and he's always nice...just intense.

I met him once and he was very friendly.  A complete 180 from the image I had from his stage show and books.

I heard about the opening, but then it completely slipped my mind.  Rats.   :(
