Yo La Tengo roll call
« on: February 08, 2007, 03:15:00 pm »
Sonar tomorrow?

its an early show.  doors at 7pm. probably puts YLT on around 8:30-9.

the Rapture is the late show, they say main room opens back up at 11:45pm. figure, YLT ending by 10:45, to give em an hour to clean up.

i plan on buying tickets at the door, and i expect rosebuds around 7:30pm, YLT around 8:30pm

 see you clowns there!

Wish I could (so you can call me sweetie...) but Baltimore is too far for most of us. I guess i'm going to Jonathan Richman tomorrow.

I'd love to catch both shows, but I'm already heading up to Baltimore on Saturday for an engagement party, and two trips up north in one question isn't in the cards.

I feel I have a fairly ambitious schedule upcoming...

Friday - Yo La Tengo @Sonar
Saturday - Plug Independent Music Awards (Stephen Malkmus/Silversun Pickups/Deerhoof/Tokyo Police Club)  @Irving Plaza in NY
Monday - Thunderbirds Are Now @Rock N Roll Hotel

I'm finally listening to the Rosebuds' most recent LP, I really like what I've heard. Good stuff! Looking foward to seeing them.

On the whole, a disappointing show. The majority of the audience were a bunch of rude assholes, and the PA sucked. To all of the jerks who were shushing back and forth during the quiet songs, next time stay at home and get drunk and don't ruin the show for everyone else. And as for the person that booed Georgia, hope that you'll grow up and learn some manners. It was clear that the band were disgusted, and I can't blame them. It ruined what could have been a great show. I wouldn't be surprised if they skip playing in  Baltimore for a while.

After last night I have to say I'd think twice about going back there. You could tell that YLT weren't happy with the sound and the audience.

i have to admit i had a different experience with the show.  i was a bit closer and didnt hear all of the shushers.  but there was a good deal of talkers in the crowd.  i must have missed the booing too.  i thought they played well, not really my favourite band or anything though.

i have noticed that, and not just at Sonar, friday night shows always seem to have a lot more assholes in attendance than other nights.
