Exit Clov sounds perfect for that festival:

"the band plays jazzy, poppy, and dynamic jams"

Not to mention, the exitclov.com homepage shows the band playing with a Conquering Lion of Judah towel onstage.

You're joking right? Pick the indie band out of this line-up ( i have removed GBV, Spoon and Exit Clov. With a few exceptions (Drive By Truckers, Lucero, Drums and tuba) and the above'indie' bands, its all jam.

That description is horrible... it made me want to throw up. And the towel thing...well, I fight the battles i can, and leave the rest alone. The band does mix some reggae in though, which is not all that bad.

Ooops, took it out.  That's why I initially looked at the story -- fishing for GBV info.  Looks like you may be traveling quite a bit later this year, pollard...

I would not mind seeing any of these, none of them are jam bands, and many of them are known for putting on good shows.  They may have more of a twang than you like, but jam bands they are not.

add GBV and Spoon and you have a pretty decent list of music

 the drive will suck though

see, you're right, except for the endless masses of hippies. And the fact that I'm really not sure how long we'll be there. So, the effort involved, and length of the drive - the 40 minutes of exposure, and whatever decent bands we can see in one day + the smell of pot, the hippies, and certain band issues (no not the drummer) = a struggle. but I will get to see GBV.
