Sonic Youth/Wilco

Anybody know set times, or read reviews of other shows that mention how long each band is playing?

I was wondering the same thing?  I know the tickets are for 7:30 but I am not sure when the bands actually go on.  Sonic Youth cancelled a couple of their performances last week for a family emergency but they have stated that they will be playing tonight.

Good show last night.  Anyone know what the hell was up with the people in the front that Tweedy assaulted.  I beleive he said something like "I'll kick you in the head motherfucker.....I'm not a monkey in a cage".  I figured maybe there were a couple guys being assholes.

I thought it was a really good show, felt weird seeing both bands in a larger venue, but was still good, especially Wilco.  Story I heard was that some guy had his back to the stage because his friend was trying to get a picture with Tweedy in the background.  What pissed Tweedy off was that he kept trying to direct Tweedy where to stand while he was in the middle of singing Misunderstood.  I am fairly sure they were going to finish with California Stars but Tweedy just walked off instead.

Oh and I thought it must be a cover, but that song they dedicated to Sonic Youth is actually a new Wilco song, called Kicking Television.

here's what happened:  this one guy basically turned around and put his back to the stage and gave a peace sign, and his friend took a picture of him, obviously annoying Tweedy.  then to make matters worse, they switched places and took another pic.  tweedy's reaction was something along the lines of, "i'm not a monkey in the zoo, motherfucker."  and a good point at that.  the kicker of it was that the 2 guys had snuck down to the front from god knows where, had no business being there, and cost the crowd 2 songs (according to the setlist):  Mountain Bed and California Stars.

I thought that dedication song was actually a Sonic Youth cover since I don't much SY material.  It sounds nothing like anything else Wilco has done.  For the most part I was really impress with the post YFH songs they played last night.

If the "monkey man" story is true I hope those dipshits didn't deprive me of a good song(Now I see they did).  While they were at it they should have asked Jeff for an autograph while he was playing Sunken Treasure(which I though sounded fantastic).  Someone pencil that in on the Unofficial Rules of Concert Etiquette.     :D

The song Kicking Television was excellent.  I was very impressed by Wilco's set.

I think it was the curfew that cost the last two songs.  Notice that they only took a break of about 12 seconds before the second encore and then finished at 11:00 on the nose.  But the two guys posing in front of Tweedy while he sang were dipshits.

Wilco was definitely more alt- and less country last night.  Sonic Youth were good, but it's just not sitting down music.

Somebody suggested the curfew to me as well, but I thought it was weird that he gestured to the guys, walked off and then the rest of the band kind of looked at each other for a minute before leaving.

Which reminds me, they also played Laminated Cat off of the Loose Fur album with Jim O'Rourke, that took up a lot of time.

more alt than country?   very nice.  because not a fan of country, but I am seeing them on Thursday in Milkwaukee w/ Fountains of Wayne.  Hope they can rock just a wee bit.

I don't think any of the songs off of Summerteeth or YHF could be considered anything remotely close to country.

You mean Not for the Seasons?  Pretentious titles aside, that's great song that's been in their set for quite a while.  Man, if only they would play You Were Wrong, off that album.  That song is just devistating.
