Do you not think he's insinuating that Pete was high or fucked up?

Yeah, it was nerves...  And Jeff Skilling resigned from Enron 4 months before they went bankrupt because he wanted to spend more time with his family, especially his two sons, David and....something that starts with a J.

??It??s not a question of professionalism. It??s much more simple than that. This is the greatest group in the world and what we??re not going to do is let anyone, Pete Doherty, Liam Gallagher or Elvis, fuck it all up.?

What makes the quote best is that it is Liam saying it.

i really like the libertines ... saw them at black cat and 930, they put on a hell of a live show and their two albums are pretty damn good [/b]
i agree.  i went to those shows too and enjoyed them immensely.  the thing i don't understand is how pete managed to completely break up the libertines.  at both dates, the band sounded great WITHOUT pete.  i thought carl was perfectly capable of carrying the show by himself.

I agree that both shows were great.  Yet, never having seen them with Pete, I can't help but wonder how much better it might have been with him.  He had talent, great charisma, and he and Carl worked beautifully together back in the day, feeding off each others energy.  Notice the past tense of course.  He's a complete mess now, and just loves the attention from being the UK's favorite junkie.  There was a certain shambolic nature to the Libs from the get go, which was great, a little unsteadiness can go long way towards creating a very dynamic and exciting young band all the more wonderful....but I cannot approve of the depths to which Pete has sunk, it's not rock and roll anymore, it's just stupidity.

There was this NME parody site a few months back and it's main story was something like "SHOCKER: Babyshambles/Libertines star Doherty likes Sandwiches!" I nearly died laughing because it's the kind of dreck they'd publish.

That Doherty, even though he's a crackhead, gets all that friggin' press.  They seem to report when the man pees, I tell ya.

From  Filter Magazine:

 "I Wanna Be a Babyshamble"
 by Danielle Allaire | 08.08.2005

According to the UPI news service, the life and times (and trials and tribulations and drug deals) of former Libertine, now Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty will be aired as a reality TV show on BBC.

Pete's antics have been documented freverently by the British tabloids after his luke-warm performance at London's Live 8 show and failing to turn up for shows with Oasis and the band's Big Gay Out performance. However, the self-proclaimed urchin did make it to a recent show with new band Babyshambles in tow that was reminiscent of the Libertines' impromptu guerilla shows. The band played in a small pub and charged only 2 pounds.

The show will be based on footage from a four-month filming duration. The show will cover everything from his career, to his relationship with on-again/off-again girlfriend Kate Moss to his drug addictions.

The producer of the show entitled, "Who The Fuck Is Pete Doherty?", has said, "The film covers everything from Pete's arrest to drugs and his romance with Kate. It's sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. There are scenes where it is quite apparent that he is taking drugs and is high."
