Now I know why everyone loves SoCal. It is rockabilly/punkabilly/psychobilly heaven. If it is possible to feel at home away from home, this was it for me.

Seeing the Stray Cats first show in ten years was the day 1 highlight, they seemed to really be having fun as they blistered through a set of all the classics. They seem to even like each other these days..amazing..I feel priviledged at having gotten a chance to see them....this is one of the few bands that makes me want to boogie, and I dont dance..heh..

I have always really dug the Damned and Dave Vanian has a great voice, the Phantom Chords are his psychobilly project. I hope they finally get to release an album. The material they played was really great. Dave also gets points for wearing his ghoul makeup in 100 degree heat, dedicated....

Nekromantix, another band I love, Gargoyles over Hootenanny!!!!  :p  I am now firmly convinced that Coffin bass is indeed, cool....now if I could just find any of their cd's other than the newest one.

Little Richard has a 30 year old face and 70 year old body, but has some of the best stage banter..ever..."I am gonna inter your net!!!" "Ill make you scream like a white women" "can I have some black women on stage to dance, no,no!! gimme the FAT BLACK WOMEN" ....

Social D played a set of almost all rarities, covers and/or new songs. A lot of folks bitched but I mean christ, how many years in a row can they play the same set. They played new but unreleased songs, Ness songs, and some rarely played songs from Somewhere between Heaven and Hell ..which was nice. The highlight was Ness' kid taking lead vocals for a cover of the Clash's "Guns of Brixton"..awww...cute...

My brother-in-law, who is one of the biggest Social D fans I know (puts me to shame), said that it was about time that Social D played at least 6 of those songs and that if Ness would do this more often, he'd actually sell more tickets because the hardcore fans woulld start going again instead of just the punk kids, who would go on rep alone.  More power to him.

Thanks for the reveiw.  I have seen the cats a couple of times and couldn't agree more.  I'm so envious.
