« on: January 30, 2003, 07:09:00 pm »
Could anyone familiar with these two please comment on their performances and would you recommend attending (Har Mar more as entertainment and so much not musically).  Thanks.

Are the Warlocks coming to the DC area any time soon? I'll be there, front row. Haven't heard them, but they look like the second coming of Monster Magnet. And that's a great thing.

I was having a catch-up convo with JC the other day, he says they'll probably have their own tour following the dates with Interpol in the East.  frankly, they just miss me   hehehe<p>[This message has been edited by Samantha (edited 01-31-2003).]

The Warlocks do have an obvious VU influence, but so do many other bands, so that isn't anything distinguishing.  As for Pink Floyd resemblances, if anything, they're somewhat reminiscent of *early* Pink Floyd.   That's a good thing.  The MP3s I've heard of them are a bit muddy, production-wise, but promising -- the big test for me will be how they are live, and I'd definitely go see 'em if I got the chance.

Caught them backstage at the Black Cat last year and was very impressed.  All the same, you need to be in the mood...

Yeah,i recorded the Black Cat show. Was real good, minus the sound guy fuck ups when he was even around.Whats up with that?Is he part owner or something? He needs replaced.Guy spent half the night chattin up th ladies when he shoulda been working.Gotta give the band credit though, they took it in stride, even playing one # with nothing but vocals ands drums.
