I'm surprised nobody has though of the Washington Cicadas. The cicadas and baseball both return in the same year. And baseball left DC in 1971, only a after a previous cicada return.

maybe a cool way to make the baseball team fit in with the city they inhabit, would be to let them play the entire season, but they just can't play in the world series, no matter what thier record is....

i loved bad news bears.  best sports movie ever.  i could remember the name.  i rjust remember in little league for me it was burger king, ben and jerrys, and some plumbing company.  i never did get any free food....
