That's too bad, but Webster is a death trap for sound and probably too big for them in any case what percentage of capacity would you say it was? They probably should have been booked at Bowery, Highline, or Hiro hell could have made it interesting and played Mercury. Sound (texture) is everything with them, so if that sucked there wasn't much hope. How were their energy, did the crowd seem like they wanted to be in it but just didn't feel it, or did it seem as though they needed to be convinced? The Recher show was as much a give and take as anything, the crowd's enthusiasm seemed to take them by surprise and in turn revved them up and then it just became a love fest. Oh well, hope you didn't just go because of what we said I'd hate to responsible for the worst show ever.

Yes - I agree 100% about Webster Hall. As I said, lately sound has been good there. LCD Soundsystem sounded great there. Perhaps it wasnt all about sound for them, but just great energy, and lots of love.
It was a sold-out show and had been sold out awhile. Last time, I believe they played Bowery and sold out that as well.
As far as the crowd, they were definitely into it. As I mentioned, the lead singer (Im drawing a blank on names, aside from Nikki) stopped the show at one point, because the crowd (front area at least) was out of control. Made some comment about how the guys shouldnt be hitting/crashing into all the pretty ladies. The crowd showed lots of love for the band, so I dont think it was a lack of energy by the band, I just think that their sound was shite.
They had a nice little jab about the "festival" they played in DC and they couldn't believe they were playing on the same stage as Buckcherry. It was pretty funny.
Oh and plenty of people I know said it was one of the best shows they went to. I take that with a grain of salt from most people, but I go to at least 5x (if not more) as many shows as probably the average person. Perhaps Ive become a bit more picky, or just have seen incredible shows that they dont know what theyre missing.
I dont know if being in back would have helped in this case. I was in the very front, standing right in front of Nikki. She seems a cool cat.
No worries about the board review and my reception of the show. I had a ticket months ago, long before the review. It has been sold out for awhile too. I had always wanted to see them, and love their music. Im still glad I got to see them, just wont be trying to see them anytime soon at larger venues. I think the Bowery or Mercury might have been better for sound.
