How were their energy, did the crowd seem like they wanted to be in it but just didn't feel it, or did it seem as though they needed to be convinced?  The Recher show was as much a give and take as anything, the crowd's enthusiasm seemed to take them by surprise and in turn revved them up and then it just became a love fest.  Oh well, hope you didn't just go because of what we said I'd hate to responsible for the worst show ever.

They did, and it helped everyone played such short sets so they could basically wrap their most accessible songs into a killer rapid fire package. I guess I'm just a homer for the band, I said it before I've never seen a bad SSPU show, only lame SSPU crowds.

It was pure disappointment.

For entertainment - we did get a lesson gravity and jumping up and down, vs jumping into your neighbors and starting a mosh pit. so basically the only time you could hear any vocals is when the band was not playing.

This has occurred at plenty of shows in the past at Webster Hall and I thought this was remedied, but perhaps not. Needless to say, Im not rushing out to see them anytime soon. It might have been one of the worst shows I've seen this year.

It didnt help that I saw LCD Soundsystem the night before at Webster Hall, and that show kicked ass!

My friend agreed with me, so I know it just wasnt me. A lot of disappointed fans.

Sea Wolf were OK. A bit mellow, but their second to last song, was really enjoyable. The cellist and drummer joined up on 2 different songs with the band. Cant remember what they were right now, one possibly Lazy Eye but I'm not entirely sure.
Yeah, Sea Wolf definitely came up on Lazy Eye.  The other song I can't remember.  I'll upload some video footage for you of their B'more & D.C. shows.  Bnyced0 was there in Bmore & I'm sure can vouch for the awesomeness of the show.  Then again, they did do D.C. Saturday, Bmore Sunday, Philly Monday, & N.Y. on Tuesday.  Maybe it was fatigue, maybe the venue sucked ass, maybe they were off.  Who knows??? I made a thread about my "SSPU Weekend".  Check it out if you care . . . . Peace . . .

P.S. I'm a be around your way come late July for both nights of Rage/Wu-Tang @ Randall's.  We should get up for drinks or something . . . . .

Yes - I agree 100% about Webster Hall. As I said, lately sound has been good there. LCD Soundsystem sounded great there. Perhaps it wasnt all about sound for them, but just great energy, and lots of love.

It was a sold-out show and had been sold out awhile. Last time, I believe they played Bowery and sold out that as well.

As far as the crowd, they were definitely into it. As I mentioned, the lead singer (Im drawing a blank on names, aside from Nikki) stopped the show at one point, because the crowd (front area at least) was out of control. Made some comment about how the guys shouldnt be hitting/crashing into all the pretty ladies. The crowd showed lots of love for the band, so I dont think it was a lack of energy by the band, I just think that their sound was shite.

They had a nice little jab about the "festival" they played in DC and they couldn't believe they were playing on the same stage as Buckcherry. It was pretty funny.

Oh and plenty of people I know said it was one of the best shows they went to. I take that with a grain of salt from most people, but I go to at least 5x (if not more) as many shows as probably the average person. Perhaps Ive become a bit more picky, or just have seen incredible shows that they dont know what theyre missing.

I dont know if being in back would have helped in this case. I was in the very front, standing right in front of Nikki. She seems a cool cat.

No worries about the board review and my reception of the show. I had a ticket months ago, long before the review. It has been sold out for awhile too. I had always wanted to see them, and love their music. Im still glad I got to see them, just wont be trying to see them anytime soon at larger venues. I think the Bowery or Mercury might have been better for sound.

I was backstage with Joe, Chris, & their manager for the last part of Buckcherry's set pretty much just clowning.  Until I heard, "Lit Up", I had no idea they were even still onstage.  The shit sounded like one long ass song.  The lead singer walks offstage right by us with this weird ass look on his grill like, "I just rocked it."  We just looked at each other and started fuckin' laughing . . . . . .

A couple of things you??ve said stand out to me.  I??m curios where were you standing for LCD SS?  I can??t imagine that being totally up front at ANY show would sound that great, unless you??re at very large venue where even the front is separated from the stage/sound system by quite some distance.  The sweet spot in the PA imaging is going to be somewhere in the middle, and highs may have been just being blown over you if you were having trouble hearing the vocals.  It??s sort of like when you set up your speaker system at home, you wouldn??t put your listening seat in back of, or parallel with the speakers the imaging would be beyond your hearing and you would just get bass and reverb.  Or perhaps an even better analogy would be if you were listening to an ipod with the ear buds partially dislodged from your ears.  Anyway, based on what you said about others impressions it may be a case of you being a concert-holic and it takes more and more to get you drunk, I recognize the symptoms and if there is a Concert Anonymous keep the freaks that attend the hell away from me because I??m staying OFF the wagon.

i agree with this, mostly about 30 feet back dead center is where i try to find a spot. i dont need my hair blown back by the sound!

for lcd soundsystem i was in the middle area i guess. but i am hearing from A LOT of people that the vocals were shite for sspu from everywhere in the club. most the people i heard that from were in the middle. so i think it was just an off night. i happened to be in the very front, but ive been in the same area for some bands and havent heard the sound that bad in a long time. sea wolf sounded fine from where i was. so perhaps just their setup?

webster hall used to be awful for most shows, as most bands just didnt sound so great. it seemed they have improved lately.

I will be seeing JAMC there and plan to be nowhere near the front, unless i want my ears to bleed.

oh as far as being in the front - im so short that if im in the middle i guarantee i wont see near anything. and im not a huge fan of balconies and arriving so very early to get a great spot.

Actually only 1 for each night (29th/30th) so two total.  I have someone that agreed to try, but if you're going to give it a whirl I'll pay for them if you can get 1 for each show, if I end up with two I'll just give the extras away for free.

I'll see them on Tuesday, and the following Monday so I'll give you a detailed report on what we actually have in SP 2007.
