Can't make it tonight, gonna see them in NYC next week.  The new album is great.  Enjoy the show!

Have you seen them since Jim cut his hair?  Something's missing without all the hair in his face while he's singing.  Not really, but it's just....different.

I'll be there - but I haven't had a chance to pick up the new record yet.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, NPR is webcasting this tonight, along with opener Kathleen Edward's set:

But NPR calls them "experimental country rock".  I know it's hard to classify them, but country rock is so wrong.

I can't say enough about the new album.  Gideon and Off The Record are great songs.

And here I was thinking that the "experimental" part was so wrong!

To me, they are definitely Country Rock but, more specifically, Southern Boogie Alt-Country Rock.

 Nope. Won't be there.

Really?  Weird, I don't hear the county thing at all.  If I was blindfolded the first time I saw them and had no idea what they looked like, I would never have even guessed they were from the south.  I kinda think they got that label because of the hair and clothes more than the music itself.

But then again, we all hear different things.  And you hate Bono and I totally respect him so I would imagine we would have different taste/ears.  Not good/bad or right/wrong, just different.

 And the show is starting......

Exactly! LOL. I'm so glad that you understand that!      :D     I know of a surprise reunion show coming up that might interest you but I'm not at liberty to divulge any of the info as to who it is as of yet. But if you are interested and in town at the time, I can give you other details to help you out.

Not at the show, listening via NPR in my home office while simultaneously being an Internet message board posting whore.    :)

Anyway, MMJ, just talking to a friend and said, "can you believe people hear "southern rock" with them?"  And he said, "Of course, it's obvious."  Well,  who needs a friend like that!?    :p

LOLOLOL. Oh, well, we are just one big ball of confusion here tonight!

Must be some other A name moving. Also, I may be mixing in memories of you mentioning living there.

Nope. Wasn't me who was talking about the Arctic Monkeys though some of my friends were on some other cyber haunt. I think someone here was too.

Okay, confusion abounds!

Can't wait to hear what people who were at the show think.  It sounded great.  Some comments from a web listener:

 - Jim James was wasted.  He was awfully happy that it was Columbus day.

 - setlist choice was great.

 - loved it when Kathleen Edwards spoke and they had forgotten to turn off the reverb on the mic.

Just got back from the show. Very solid. Hopefully it came across as well on the webcast.

The opening lighting was quite original. Completely dark with strobes going during the chorus. As said earlier, great song choice and order.

Energy level was high throughout the entire show. Lots of jumping around the stage with very tight playing. I have trouble believing that these guys partied as hard as they claimed today. Musta had a power nap in there.

Again on the lighting.. I really enjoyed this. Subtle, great mix of colors and speed. Really worked with what they had up there. Last time I saw them was at 'roo this past summer. I was blown away by the 10' characters they had stumbling around the stage. Really added to the hard driving playing.

The club was packed this evening. Great to see! I was expecting a semi-full room, but it was perfectly crowded.

Look forward to giving the stream a listen. Have a good night all.

Jim James allegedly doesn't drink much anymore.  He was kidding about partying, which would have been more obvious if you were at the show.  RAWK
