Anyone see Kings of Leon this weekend
« on: October 04, 2004, 12:26:00 pm »
Really liked (and was suprised by) the opener The Feature.  Both bands rawked (saw them at Fletchers saturday), put on good shows.  Fun time, seeing if anyone saw them there or the Black Cat (heard some stories about that show).

I was going to go to the Fletcher's show, but only because i thought Simple Kid was the opener, and when i found out differently, i cried, and did not go.

I caught them at the Black Cat Fri. night.  I loved them too.  They're incredibly high energy - but real old fashioned r&r...no mope, no long ballads...no whining.  Any recommendations on a CD?

Great show on friday.  Very tight musically but still wild and loose. New stuff sounded pretty damn good too.

We heard that Simple Kid band on WTMD on our way to Baltimore on Saturday. I think both Celeste and I agreed they weren't that good.

i was the show friday nite. very pleasantly surprised by the features. didn't know a thing about them heading in, but thought they rocked pretty well. sort of a cross between the coral and the sunshine fix, but better than both. kings of leon were pretty good too. i don't really know why i like them, but i do. i think a lot of it has to do with the brevity of their songs. not much dead weight. "california waiting" is a great tune. lots of frat boys in the crowd, but i guess that's what you get with major label alt-rock.

They were getting used to the small stage again.  Not really happy with the sound after the Strokes size shows.  But I think they will get used to it.  They did a great set, too bad I didn't save the set list.  Oh well.

I absolutely loved KOL's album, but to tell you the truth was disappointed with the show somewhat.  The new songs sounded lacking to me.  The setlist was almost exactly half old half new, which to me is too much new stuff, as no one is familiar with it and it's hard to get into.  When they were on target, they were awesome.

The Features were great....def giving KOL a run for their money.  The drummer was absolutely insane.  He was one of the most animated and intense drummers i've ever seen.  I liked especially that they had a good mix of edgier stuff to balance out the radio friendly cheese that is "Blow it out" and "million ways..."  Def buying the album soon.

I thought it was a really good show on friday. Good ole Rock n' Roll. Got me pumped up. Met a girl hope she comes down to my band's show.
Not holding my breath I don't want to die.
Good music. Yeah the openers were there to take no prisoners.
Ended the night with some hot wings from tasty diner. Awesome night.
WHAT?

When I last saw KOL, I thought they were o.k.

But - I thought their t-shirt was great:

So I bought one. Except mine is brown.

Simple Kid are one of those bands that could turn me into a mass murderer if I had to hear too much of them at once.

Hearing any of them at all will put me into a bad state of mind as it is.
