Would you say they will help make indie the new mainstream?

I haven't heard these guys, bu they allegedly sound like a radio-friendly Interpol.  They are a Geffen band that is priming their pump on myspace.

I take it this is the harbinger of the coming commercialization of indie rock.

 It's 1991 all over again... [/b]

Much like Creed helped make alternative the new mainstream in 1991...

Good. The less cigarette smoke in the tapas bars, the better.

Some of the other DJs on Kool Rock Radio played them so much the past 1/2 year that I'm sick to death of them now. They are fairly decent if you like them but I've had my fill and pretty much agree with everything said above.

they are okay...i think they're playing with electric six too...i will probably end up at that show so i'll decide how much i like them after that.  what i've heard recorded is only alright.  it still sounds too similar to me to the other stuff that is being put out

To be honest, this board isn't the best place to be asking about "breakout" bands of 2006.  The drug of choice for most of you is Geritol!  Ever hear of the term DADROCK?  Look in your music collection.    :p

No shit! Either that or NME/Pitchfork sanctioned over-hyped bandwagoneers.

Rhett, the closest you've come to cutting edge in the past five years is your Bic diposable.  I hope you enjoy Madrid as much as they'll enjoy you.

I was pretty disappointed when I saw them last Fall. But they probably will do fairly well this year.

Oh god, I was afraid someone was going to say this and I'm also afraid that you're right.  This was one of the WORST bands I've ever seen; they opened for Kasabian and The Music in early '05 at the club.  They were so bad I couldn't even stand to look at them.  And now they're getting all this buzz.  Blech.
