Curefest

So rumors are flying about which bands will be on this tour. Apparently, Interpol, Mogwai, The Cooper Temple Clause, The Rapture and Muse have all been mentioned. One site says an official announcement will come out next week. If the bands mentioned are actually on the tour, then I will definitely be going.

Cure Announce Festival Tour With Interpol, Rapture, Mogwai

The Curiosa Festival 2004 will feature the Cure headlining a bill that also includes three bands plainly influenced by Robert Smith and company: Interpol, the Rapture and Mogwai.

A second stage will also be part of the traveling road show, with Muse, Thursday, Cursive, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Cooper Temple Clause and Head Automatica rotating as performers.

The tour kicks off July 24 in the unlikely tropical setting of West Palm Beach, Florida, and ends August 27 in Los Angeles. Venues have yet to be confirmed, and additional dates are still being added.

Dates for the Curiosa Festival 2004, according to a band spokesperson:
7/24 - West Palm Beach, FL
 7/25 - Tampa, FL
 7/28 - Nashville, TN
 7/29 - Atlanta, GA
 7/31 - New York, NY
 8/1 - Camden, NJ
 8/3 - Cincinnati, OH
 8/4 - Cleveland, OH
 8/7 - Boston, MA
 8/11 - Detroit, MI
 8/12 - Chicago, IL
 8/14 - Dallas, TX
 8/15 - Houston, TX
 8/17 - Denver, CO
8/18 - Salt Lake City, UT
 8/27 - Los Angeles, CA

More dates to be announced soon.

So if they don't come to DC, I guess it's NY, Boston or heading down to Florida where my family now lives. Hmm. Hopefully the official announcement next week will include venues (and the additional dates!).

Well Kosmo..if their setlist is anything like Coachella's setlist, fans will be in for a real treat. "A Hundred Years", "Close to Me", "Push", "A Night Like This", "A Forest", "Just Like Heaven", "Fascination Street", "In Between Days", "Lullaby", "Pictures of You", "Love Song", "Boys Don't Cry", etc. etc. They even played "Charlotte Soemtimes" and "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea".

Anybody find a bootleg of that yet?  If so, please post.  Thanks in advance.

So do we think that the Cure is counting their HFStival appearance as their DC date?  I know, July 30 and August 2 are both open dates.  I'm a pessimist, though, and I can't believe I may have to go to NY if I want to see Curefest....

& a great version of this - re-arranged to almost a pop song. Yet still dark & moody. Quite nice I thought.

i hope it's not 100% like the coachella sets.
i don't want an entire show of singles and new songs.  deep green sea is the only non-single on that list and they've played it at every show of theirs i've seen, so i really don't have an interest in seeing it again.  deep green sea and fascination street are songs that have been in the setlist of basically every show they've played since the album that song was on was released.  i'd rather them pull out some more obscure material.. at least sometimes.  at least in the 2000 tour they pulled out some songs like siamese twins (hadn't been played since 87/89 or so) and pornography (i don't remember if 87 or 92 was the last time before 00).
