Um, no, not unless something about me just says "this one wants to be a nurse practitioner". I don't like needles or, well, touching old people.
Wait, was I wearing my "Nurse Practitioner in Training" shirt again?

I thought it was a really good night of music -even with my back breaking and feet hurting from all the standing (4 hrs -youch!). I think everyone definitely fell in love with Rosie. Her Star Search story was both adorable and funny. (Drum machine! Dooo.dooo.dah.doot.) And then her voice! Wow. I felt the same as you all about Sam Jayne. His songs sounded the same after a while. But I really loved Sam Beam's voice. (Nick Drake, anyone?) I bought his album. But I have to say that James Mercer was my favorite of the night. Mainly because he owned his guitar -it had it's own life force in the songs whereas for the others, I felt like their voice was the main thing. James added a vitality to the songs with his guitar playing. And oh how good it was to hear The Shins songs.
With all that said, I do think that my favorite songs of the night were the songs where they collaborated and joined each other on the vocals. Especially the two with Sam Beam and Rosie singing. Very nice.
Rosie as her alter-ego was very funny. "A couple of people on the street shouted Ariel, and I totally responded." Lol.

Well, I guess I don't mind being the only person on here that thought Jayne's set didn't blend into one long musical blur. I actually thought it was an impressive departure from his Love As Laughter material. Definitely looking forward to hearing the studio versions if they ever appear.
I definitely agree about Rosie's banter though. Even without her wit, just listening to the contrast in her speaking and singing voice was enough to have me in awe. It's like night and day.

I had baked ziti which had about the qulaity of a frozen dinner. She had a caesar salad which sure the hell didn't LOOK like a caesar salad.
Their food proves that yuppies will eat anything as long as they don't have to cook it themselves, and there's some trendy candles on the table.

quote:
Originally posted by chknfngrs:
what'd you eat at the Iota that was so lame? trendy little candles indeed. don't have their soup then. or the burrito-type thing. and to think about it, their wine.... Poofty pranksters calling themselves a restaurant. Maybe the quality of food there is inversely proportionate to the amt of alcohol one consumes. I don't mind it eating there, though it's not something I'd do with great frequency.

I've had really great food there before. Is the menu the same for the club area as for the restaurant side? I've only eaten in the restaurant. It was good but not cheap.
