Clutch on Ace of Cakes

Not sure if this was talked about before, but it was so damn cool to see the 9:30 featured during an episode of Ace of Cakes tonight. Yeah, I'm a Food Network geek. But that Clutch amp cake was pretty badass.

i just saw it too. i think the best part is that duff's co-worker/business partner whatever just happened to be the sister of his favorite lead singer of his favorite band. how often does that happen?

i used to enjoy watching foodtv, but the only thing i can really stand to watch anymore is good eats.  i hate just about everything and everyone else on there now.

OK, wait... I just Googled "Ace of Cakes" and its a show about custom cakes on the Food Network.  I hope I don't sound stupid here, but  Clutch, the band was on this??  I'm a big fan and I'd like to know if I should be YouTube-ing this one.

 oh and btw, charm city cakes prices fucking doubled once they got that show. its $100 just to set up a cake tasting.  weak again, duff.

First, I think the episode was very cool. As 9:30 staff, a fan of the Ace of Cakes show and a huge Clutch fan it brought some of my favorite things together.
 
 As someone who watches the show regularly I think Duff shows plenty of love to Baltimore, but as he said in the episode Clutch is his favorite band and 9:30 is his favorite club. So let the guy be happy and show a little love to DC.

I'm just pokin fun.  though as much as i wanted to get my wedding cake from him, it was way way way more than i could afford.

i watch good eats, ace of cakes and ic america, just to watch bobby flay re-make the same thing over and over and how much cat cora stinks.  they are doing a show looking for the next iron chef that ruhlman is going to be on.

i can't bring myself to watch IC america.  it's just.. really bad.  i (mostly) liked the original (and i've also seen original japanese broadcasts of the show).
 
 as far as ace of cakes go, i guess some of the cakes look interesting and all that, but let's see them make a cake without using fondant?  it just looks like they're making cakes with playdough.  let's actually see some interesting plain old cake / icing structures.  i know that's possible.
 
 i read bourdain's rant about food network and while i loathe him more than i dislike what foodtv has become, i have to agree with a lot of what he said.  rachel ray needs to be put down.

 Even though the host is annoying, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives is my favorite Food Netowrk show
