Unsigned.com?
« on: January 31, 2008, 10:09:00 am »
Anyone use this site?  I have a meeting this evening with a prospective client who's looking to do a similar site, where unsigned bands (or maybe just independent bands...I won't have the specifics until the meeting) can create their own profile pages, preview songs. etc.

I wanted to do some research on similar sites and functionality before the meeting so any input would be great.  Any other sites I should check out?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that one as an comparison.  I was hoping more for sites that soley focused on music networking, from both a band & fan perspective.

Does MOG focus on bands networking, or is that just a Last.FM-type site?

Trust me, I realize that.  But this guy's apparently pretty serious, and has a pretty clear focus on what he's after.  If nothing else, should be an interesting conversation.

i just found out about amiestreet.com and need to look at that one a little closer...

another site to look at which is one of the best examples i've seen for artists releasing  music under the Creative Commons license

 http://www.jamendo.com/en/

It's certainly a more inviting interface than the Music library on the Internet Archive site.

Smackie might want to avert his eyes on this one as it has a tanker load of French artists on there...

I know what I'd like to see in a site like this, but am certainly not posting that notion in this thread  ;)

Polyvinyl records is directing people to amiestreet to download their artists. At least with the new Ida album they are (although I got it through emusic).

6949, that was such a great list I had to copy and save it for myself for future reference before this thread gets lost into oblivion. Thanks!

 I also like www.soundclick.com .
