Just heard about this date for Jon Spencer Blues Explosion:

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Theatre Of Living Arts, Philadelphia, PA, Friday, November 12 at 9:00 PM, On Sale Friday, July 30 at 12:00 PM

In addition to these dates from Pollstar:

Wed 11/03/04   Madison, WI  High Noon Saloon

Thu 11/04/04   Minneapolis, MN  First Avenue

Sat 11/06/04   Detroit, MI  St. Andrews Hall

 Fri 11/19/04   Seattle, WA  Neumo's

Sat 11/20/04   Portland, OR  Crystal Ballroom

Mon 11/22/04   San Francisco, CA  The Fillmore

Anyone know of a website, or if they are rumored to hit the DC area?

Thanks for the heads up.  The Matador Records website should list dates soon.

JSBX just signed to sanctuary records. what a bizarre collection talent (and not so much talent) on that label.

After seeing them at the 9:30 on the Plastic Fang tour, I can honestly say they've lost the "X" in JSBX.  I won't drive to Philly for them but, sadly, if they come as close as Baltimore, I may breakdown and give them one more chance.

they played a show at 930 during the first month it was open back in january 96 and it remains one of the most memorable shows i've ever seen. but the shtick is definitely tired now and, really, it was about 5 years ago.

i completely agree. if i recall correctly, that JSBX show at the 9:30 was in april 2002, and dead meadow opened (and were awesome). i was into the first half-hour or so before getting terribly bored, and i thought to myself that the blues explosion were DONE.

i wasn't going to see them headline again, but i won tickets to the ottobar show in the winter of 2003. big lazy opened and were phenomenal. the blues explosion...well, i was bored again.

i used to love seeing them live, but their shtick has grown really old. chances are that i will see them again, however, since they always seem to have openers i want to see.

I was at that show but thought JSBX flat out rocked.  It was non-stop rock and roll without so much as a breather between songs.  And Big Lazy, well they were impressive.  Bought one of their CDs on the spot.

JSBX was the band du jour when I wanted to get wild and crazy.  They'd whip the audience into a hardcore shake-it-like-a-polaroid frenzy and bring it all down with some sultry, slip-out-of-those-panties nasty blues. Maybe Jon needs to get on the Viagra.

Unfortunately, I know i'll end up getting sucked into seeing them again this November in a (likely) futile attempt to relive the old days.  Maybe this time Judah will act halfway interested and Russell won't look like he's on a comedown from a three-day meth binge.

Does anyone here remember the new year's show at the 9:30 with JSBX, Jesus Lizard, Southern Culture and Cibo Matto? What a line-up...That and the Boss Hog show at Fletcher's a few years ago were phenomenal.

Pollstar just announced today that "Blues Explosion" was playing the 9:30 Club on 11/13. Given the other tour dates, I'd guess this is JBSX.

And I'm guess I'm just a dweeb but I saw them on the NYE show at the 9:30 several years back and it didnt do anything for me.

But man....that festival I saw in Toronto last weekend was GREAT!! Sloan, Sam Roberts and Broken Social Scene were amazing. The Stills and Pilate were both pretty good, too. Sloan's set was basically a 'greatest hits' package, focusing on the first three releases. They opened with Underwhelmed and went from there. Sweet sweet day!

I was at both shows..Spencer was passing around a bottle of champagne that night and I got to drink a bit. My buddy and I were stage diving while Jesus Lizard was playing. Of course David Yow dropped his pants and once they were down, he grabbed my buddy and put him in a head lock for a bit and danced around.
Cute little girl went topless on stage that night as well..too bad they threw her out.

I still have the poster 930 club made hanging in my office

Boss Hogg at Fletcher's was awesome as well, I got a chance to go backstage and chat with Spencer for a bit.

i think this may have happened at the show on the 30th of december, not on new year's, but i remember jsbx doing a tribute to each of the opening bands by playing a blues explosion song in the style of each respective band. i wish i could remember which song they did...something off of orange, i think.  sweat, maybe?
