Bonnaroo set times are up
« on: May 24, 2007, 08:19:00 pm »
Here

I'm a little frustrated.  Manu Chao, The Roots, AND the Black Keys at the same time on Friday and then Ben Harper, Franz Ferdinand, Spoon, and Ween conflict on Saturday.  YIKES!

Still excited though.  Who's going and what are your schedules looking like?

Go with the Roots. Manu Chao sounds the same after 3 songs and Black Keys are not very exciting musically.

I like the Bonnaroo setup. Any chance the Police will get a 2:30 set in Baltimore?

i like that they don't schedule anyone against the big headliners.   but widespread panic is closing out the festival?  really?  damn hippies...   :)    i would have swapped their spot with white stripes.

i'd say skip the roots, they play DC all the time, or divide your time equally between them and manu (unless you're seeing him at marriweather or some other stop of his summer tour).  *some* of manu's song are same-y, and always fun energy.  roots are indeed great, but easy to catch here in dc - they come through at least once if not twice a year.

hot chip vs. nightwatchman - now THAT's a dilemma.  both were highlights of coachella for me.

couple of acts listed on the comedy/cafe page that might help fill time, like aziz ansari and the brazilian girls.

definitely neat that they schedule music until 3:00 in the morning... then again, that's the only time it's cool enough to actually enjoy yourself!

I'll place $100 right now on "FUCK NO".  (I would love to be proved wrong, though.)

Not taking.  But it would be an injustice to set them up with an hour-fifteen, as this is the only show in the DC-Balt area.  Seth, please...make some time (drop like, I dunno...Incubus or somebody) and give everyone their money's worth.

Go with shadow over sts9.

Or hang out at sts9 for an hour since Aesop's set is only 45 minutes. You'll most likely be bored with sts9 by 2 anyway.

Interesting that there is still a "TBD" slot from midnight to 3 on Friday.  I am praying it is filled by My Morning Jacket.

One conflict I have is Damien Rice vs. The Hold Steady.  I haven't seen either one, does anyone have any advice.  I'm thinking The Hold Steady might win.

damien rice at the lincoln theatre was one of my favorite shows last year.  since you havent seen either, you might want to split your time, but then again, you could see damien rice tomorrow night at DAR and then see the entire set of the hold steady at bonnaroo!

if my morning jacket is there during that slot, i will be one happy camper

My Morning Jacket would be killer.

And oh man, I forgot all about The Hold Steady!  I will definitely have to catch at least most of their set if I can.

My biggest conflict is probably Franz Ferdinand and Spoon.  Saw spoon not too long ago at sonar and I thought they were just alright, so probably go with Franz there.

Mute Math is definitely worth checking out if you have time to fill.  Saw them last year and they put on a great show.  Listened to their cd when I returned, and wasn't too fond of it.

I'm not going, but anyone that's not seeing Ween is stupid.  Not that I'm biased or anything   :D
