Upcoming Sell Out odds
« on: October 24, 2005, 12:43:00 pm »
Xavier, before you start, I know, I know, no one can ever really be sure.  And if you want to go to a show, you should get a friggin' ticket in advance.

But, I totally misjudged how fast Social D would sell out and paid through the nose for tickets, so I'm just looking for some intelligence so I can make a semi-informed decision (actually, the decisions are really about whether or not I should just pick up some extra tickets for my friends, who mostly aren't thinking about shows in December yet).

 Any thoughts on the following:

Super Furry Animals, 930 (Tues, Nov 8)

The Black Keys, 930 (Sat, Nov 12)

Dandy Warhols, 930, (Sun, Nov 27)

I do not see Black Keys selling out. Super Furry's sell out day-of or day before. Dandy Warhols is a total crapshoot - I wouldn't expect it to be half full, but with Dig! who knows?

do you think the sfa show will really sell out?
it wasn't that crowded last year when they played with papa m.  they were doing one of those 'buy one get one free' deals with the show as well.  i know that's the only reason my friend was there.. because i got him in for free.

agree the black keys show has been on sale for several months now, if it sellsout it will be at the door. don't see SFA selling out, they haven't done much to raise thier profile.  i'm guessin' the casual Dandy Warhols fans wont be going and with the reviews of the new one, they probably wont be picking any new ones up.

I think that was the same night as The Shins at the Black Cat, which might explain why it wasn't too crowded. The Shins show sold out faster than I expected so I went to see SFA instead.

Cool...I want to wait on SFA.  If there are tickets show day, maybe I'll go.

A friend wants to go to Black Keys -- I don't know a thing about them.

I may get Dandy tix in advance.  Anyone here planning to go?

I might be going to see the Dandy's at 9:30. Loved the 3+ hour set they played last time. If I don't go to the 930 show, I'll be at Cat's Cradle since it's a Saturday.

The Black Keys are guitar & drums blues-rock duo like The  White Stripes, with more grit and raw power than them.

super furry animals will not sell out. None of their shows in D.C. have been full.

Dandy Warhols might sell out because of dig!

I'll be there! Not too keen on the new Dandies, but am excited to see The Outcrowd,Matt Hollywood's new band, who are the openers. I really liked Then I Saw the Holy City. If you go, get there early for them, you won't be disappointed.

I thought this would be about The Odds.

I thought it would be about which indie band would be the next to make the leap to major label, or have their song appear in a McDonald's commercial.
