I feel you man.
I personally would have seen the clash if they toured.
Not just nostalgia (I was too young anyway) but for the fact that Joe was just so fucking passionate about his music, he would have put ona great show and I think the boys would have wanted to play with him.
Joe Strummer was not so much a rock god as a heroic warrior fighting his way and captureing followers with his words and presence. And The Clash the perfect vehicle like a cowboy in a classic a classic Pontiac Convertable cruising down a Texas highway (I realy don't know) they all complemented each other. But it was just a shock and a loss it's all I can honestly say.
Joe was great and The Clash were awesome.
I'm hate myself for not getting to see The Mescaleros.
Can't really finish so I'll just end
WHAT?

I didn't see the Clash either.  And though it wasn't the perfect band, I saw Joe Strummer play with the Pogues in NYC at a theater.  Obviously Shane was in rehab.

It was one of the best shows I've ever seen.  Strummer is just an amazing, passionate and giving performer.  He just kicked it out, but then stepped aside and let the band take the spotlight.

Amazing, amazing show.  I wanted to marry Joe, which is always a good sign!

I saw The Clash two and half times and Joe Strummer twice solo.

The first Clash show was in Brixton on the Combat Rock Tour with Tory Crimes back on drums.  I believe either Tenpole Tudor or 999, or both were the support.  WOW whatta show...

Next time with The Who, where that totally wally Eddie Money went long on his set and ending up cutting the Clash's set short.

The half time was on the "Cut the Crap" tour, a pretty CRAP show where $10,000 got "stolen" from the backstage where I was working.  Most likely an inside job seeing as the band was involved in numerous lawsuits at the time.

Saw Joe when he toured for Earthquake Weather he pretty much sleepwalked this way through that show.

The last show at the 9:30 club was amazing.  I'd personally like to the see the Mesclaros continue as a working band.
