i saw electric 6 in their previous incarnation as the wildbunch and was mightly unimpressed. me thinks that they have reached the bottom of the barrel with regards to the friends of jack white.
why the hentchmen aren't getting noticed and these guys are signed to v2 is a real headscratcher.
plus the white stripes are being to sour, if they are in fact releasing their next album with six different covers. a blatant ploy to increase record sales. add that to the heavy handed legal tactics v2 used with flying bomb records over that labels xmas compliation.

"Elephant is already on Kazaa"
Not as easy to find though as you'd think.
There's a ton of very irritating bogus repeating tracks out there.
It takes a lot of sifting to find the real stuff.
If you're trying to download it, don't waste time on any of the tracks that inlcude descriptions in the properties ("the real one!", "great song!", etc.). They're all fakes.
You also know right away if you have a good copy - you'll hear the pop and crack of vinyl...kind of nostalgic.

If I hadn't sold my record players, I'd be able to record an LP to my computer in no time (and high quality as well). I imagine there are many, many people who can do the same. Strangely enough, the CD i got doesn't have any pops or hisses, but it's quite possible it was indeed recorded from the LP version (just with a nice technics setup).

clearly they didn't do any research to findout that there are new turntables with optical digital outputs on them. or that cooledit includes a module to remove the snap crackle and pop from vinyl records when transferred to a pc.
this is just another example of how dim the record industry. why go through the bother of sending out advance copies for review with easily broken copywrite protections methods. when they could just release the album for sale and get it over with. the rapid fan could care less what a reviewer has to say about the record before buying it. plus you would have thousands of reviewers who can pass the word faster.
with that said how are the new tracks?

I do really like them so be aware of the bias...
I like what I've heard. Definitely no let down. Sounds similar to WBC in that there are a few weirdly cute songs, but mostly it just rocks ass.
Part of me wanted to wait, but no chance when they are just sitting out there begging to be heard. Any guilt I feel about downloading the songs will go away once I fork over the dinero to actually get the record.
I'm gonna log on to Kazaa this afternoon to try and get the last couple songs I couldn't find. I think my kazaa user name is harper@kazaa. All of the files I have are legit if you're interested.
