new pornographers

I keep hearing they're going to play at 9:30 some time soon - just wondering if anyone knew whether and when, since it's not on the front page.

But not on sale yet, so not on the schedule.  Watch for tickets to go on sale in the next couple of weeks (Thursday's the day new shows go on sale most of the time).

Well, I didn't think Arcade Fire would sell out in a few days, so I'm going for these tickets Friday morning...better safe than sorry.

if you go to kcrw.com, you can see their Morning Becomes Eclectic performance from last week on realvideo. its not the same lineup that will be touring though, neither neko nor dan bejar (destroyer) were present. carl's niece fills in for neko, the drummer does dan's vocals. the fall tour will have both neko and dan, which is apparently a rare and possibly one-time occasion.

I was at their Canada Day show in NYC (oh the irony) with Stars and The Sadies (the same show the golfer was at I think).  Of the three bands the NPs put on the least inspiring set. I am willing to chalk it up to the fact that they had to play after Stars (and Torvile's manic stage antics) and that they were without the services of Ms. Case. If the new record is as good as people say it should be worth going to the show, but don't expect a great stage show.

from torr - yay for the New Pornos! - having it for 9.99 at Best Buy probably didn't hurt either

The New Pornographers reach a new chart and sales peak as Twin Cinema opens at #44 on the billboard charts with 19,000 copies sold. The group's last outing, 2003's Electric Version, spent one week at #196. While commercial terrestrial radio isn't playing the band, Sirius Satellite Radio's Left of Center channel has a pair of tracks in rotation. "Use It" ranked third on the channel's playlist for the week with 33 spins, while the album's title track earned 15 plays.
