Can I smoke a big fat stogey at the 9:30 Club?
« on: February 26, 2003, 11:15:00 am »
I'm an old antisocial geezer and I'd like to know if I can park my big fat ass near the front of a show and light up a big fat stinky c-gahr, even if it annoys other people in the club standing 412 feet away from me. I understand most people accept a little cigarette smoke here and there, but I'm talking fog-machine saddam style c-gahrs here, one after the other...
If you do, I will smite you. Just don't go to the Yo La Tengo show if you don't want to be smitten.

quote:
Originally posted by J'Mal:
I'm an old antisocial geezer and I'd like to know if I can park my big fat ass near the front of a show and light up a big fat stinky c-gahr, even if it annoys other people in the club standing 412 feet away from me. I understand most people accept a little cigarette smoke here and there, but I'm talking fog-machine saddam style c-gahrs here, one after the other...

Tell me when you're going to do this. I'll sit next to you and puff a blunt. You can be the cover for the chronic..

Though this is true I STILL don't like coming home from a show smelling like an ashtray. I do not see why there would be a difference between cigars, cloves and cigarettes.

I don't like too many cigarettes, either, but there's nothing much to be done about that.
Cigar smoking is different. It takes a rare number of cigarettes to destroy the 9.30 club, but cigars are like the nuclear bomb of smoking. Lots of places permit cigarettes but ban cigar and pipe smoking. It's perfectly rational. The 9.30 should be one of them.
