Those of you who liked City of God, you may also like this other Brazilian movie.

Also, difficult to find, but incredible mexican documentary/movie from the seventies.

Carandiru isn't as powerful, or put together as Cididad de Deus.

There are just too many good films in past and present..  Do you want something recent?  what are you into?  what themes do you like?  I shall espouse a mantra..

For pure action/gun porn, District B13 is a real hoot. It's heavy on parkour, the art of running top-speed around urban environments (like that first chase scene in Casino Royale). It ain't deep, but it's pretty fun.

Just saw Battle Royale for the first time recently too. That was pretty intense.

oh yeah.  boycott all mainstream theatres.  the movies are terrible anyways.  support all the landmark theatres, shirlington, dupont, cinema arts, afi, goethe and the museums.  warner theatre is owned by live nation/clear channel.  boycott that place also.

For those with Comcast digital cable, it's a free on-demand movie for a couple more weeks.
