dcrtv.org doesn't know whether it's a prank or actual format flip.

DC101 Gets Hard - 9/19 - Ever since the end of Elliot Segal's show this morning, Clear Channel's DC101 has swung into a heavy metal, hard rockish mode. A stunt? A new midday feature? A format flip? The station's website at dc101.com now features an on-air playlist featuring Warrant, Jackyl, Poison, Whitesnake, Scorpions, Dokken, and Tesla. Hmmm. DC101 normally leans in an alternative rock direction.....

God I hope so.  Their previous format of ten minutes of ads, Metallica, Three Days Grace, Fall Out Boy, ten minutes of ads, Guns N Roses, Nickleback, Trapt, rinse, repeat was terrible.

Wow...what does it say that people are actually excited about hair metal again? I remember when all of that stuff was played to death and we were waiting for the day that people stopped caring about Poison or Warrant. Now if they start playing Judas Priest, I might have to tune in...but I can't even remember the last time I listened to the radio.

Most of what DC101 was playing was all of the dumb of hair metal but none of the fun.

 This is awesome.

Apparently the fall ratings period (the radio version of sweeps) starts tomorrow. Not sure if this is a segue to a new format or a publicity stunt to get rubberneck listeners for sweeps.

Gotta be a stunt. No commercial station could survive on such a narrowly dated and styled format.

Here we are, talking about it. Ah, the power of stunts....

Actually, that Night Ranger song does kick some serious ass, as does "Foolin'" by Def Leppard.
