Alternate option for my stranded homey/thread starter: My advice to you would be to catch a cab after the show to the Greyhound station @ 2110 Haines St. (Book it online not now but RIGHT NOW!) and take a bus back to DC.  You'll be right by Union Station (2.something blocks) at the Metro in plenty of time to get whereever you're going since Metro runs 'til 3.  Total cost should be like $20-something or so.

Okay, this sounds like a pretty good plan with the Greyhound bus idea.  I think that will work out the best.

If anyone knows of someone driving up from in/around DC though (and back Friday night) I'd be very appreciative of a ride.  Saw them in October, but would love to not miss this show.

Thanks for all of the ideas and suggestions.

ZipCar is an idea.  However, I prefer public transportation/ride share to driving myself.  I do not like driving, especially to Baltimore.

Secondly, I already paid an outrageous price for the ticket thanks to "courtesy" fees, and a ZipCar would put the night at well over $100.  While I like Tool an awful lot, that is just insane.  I could see nine other shows in DC for that price.

So yes, Zipcar is an idea, but not a preferable one.

I can get you from Metro.  I sent you a PM as the rest of the board is probably not real interested in our logistical details.

If I could somehow go up and come back via Metro/bus/light rail/walking, that would be great.

Paul3Mac...you think that your idea will work both up and back?  If so, that sounds great.

 Thanks for all the replies.

JonathanEH...if I get to the King Street Metro stop whenever you are leaving on Friday could you grab me there?  On the way back the last train leaves for DC at 2:37.  I think we'll be back in time for that.  The show can't go much past 12:30 or so, which should be plenty of time to drive from Baltimore to Alexandria at that time of night.

If I can get to that Metro and you could grab me there, that would be great.  Hopefully it isn't too far out of your way to get there.

I just saw this too. Almost sure there used to be a 1:30-2:00 one. Still, the 12:40 one should be fine if he can't figure out another way back although he seems to be set.

so i have been listening to some select Tool tracks, nothing from the new disc but older stuff, and i realize that while i (and others here too) have grown out of angry dark rock like Tool...theres no denying the originality of Tool and the influence they had on countless other band (albeit some really crappy ones!)

and with a drunken baltimore friday night crowd, this should be a damn good show.

you will not likely hear much old material tonight.  just a heads up.  it will still be a damn good show.

Make sure you're in your seat, as even money is on "Stinkfist" being the first song.  Don't get much better than that as far as a jumpoff point for your night.  Thatguy is on point, though.  You'll get some classics peppered through the evening, but mostly the new album.  Doesn't matter.  Make sure you get up close if you wanna see the band/take pics.  Maynard's got some sort of severe stagefright or some shit, so they don't do the video of the band thing.  But what is cool is all the crazy imagery you'll see on the screens.  "The Pot" (the song's actually about Dubya) is also a highlight of the set.  Stands up to their best earlier work.  You'll have a great time.

Actually, we got one oldie, and a serious goodie,  FLOOD!  They just started playing it on this tour a couple nights ago.

Jambi was first and The Pot wasn't played.

People who relentlessly take pictures should be thrown out.

show was fucking awesome, though, not too familiar with their latest stuff, it sounded great.

definitely a music lovers set, not just kickin out the greatest hits.  i like when bands dont waste time with an encore.

good crowd too, i even saw my favourite short bald goateed 930 staph member roaming the floor with his Clutch shirt on  ;)

oh and Melt Banana? NOT an arena band for sure, they sounded awful.

I really wish I hadn't missed them (twice) while they were supporting Lateralus.  I really had some high hopes set on hearing "The Grudge".  And no "Sober"?  Not that it wasn't an awesome show, but for my first time seeing them, it could have been better.

I have to say, though, that I've been listening to 10,000 Days a lot over the past week or two.  I picked it up when it first came out, listened to it a few times, then pretty much set it aside because it struck me as not being nearly as good as Lateralus (or Undertow and Aenima, for that matter).  Now that I've really been giving it a chance, it's grown on me quite a bit.  And seeing a nice chunk of it live definitely helped.
