There was an antipodean feeling in the air last night at the 9.30 club...another relatively short setlist....Jeff Lang's soundcheck ran a little long

 Leo Kottke  'Vaseline Machine Gun'
 Kasey Chambers  'Crossfire'
 The Waifs  'The Waitress'
The Go-Betweens  'No Reason To Cry'
Badly Drawn Boy  'A Peak You Reach'
Paul Kelly  'Nothing But A Dream'
 Neko Case  'Misfire'
 The The   'The Whisperers'

Curious...how was this crowd?  I like this band, kinda hippie, yes, kinda vibey-reggae, but every time I've seen them they bring a good show, even though I wouldn't typically listen to them.

 Nice Go-Betweens and The The.

Thanks Arlette.....I doubt many folks here had heard of him but the show seemed pretty close to a sellout. You're right, they put on an excellent show, as did Jeff Lang the opener, who plays some mean blues guitar.

I almost don't know how to describe their sound. I was expecting them to be much 'jammier' but they weren't.....it was a weird mish-mosh of folk, bluegrass, blues and country on a lot of songs.

Crowd was  youngish - mainly folks in their 20s and 30s, really into JBT, knew all the words to every song etc
