currently watching the white stripes... not bad, solid, but not mind-blowing either.  i really like the new album and i was hoping for a little more in the wow dept.  meg is jiggling rather nicely.  what the hell is that array of colored cones to the left of meg?  looks like some sort of a MIDI trigger pad, but as far as i can tell she hasn't hit it... never seen anything like that before.  yes, i'm a gear geek.

the AT&T site has the following poll... one can only hope people answered in jest - these result can't be right/serious.  maybe the coders got the results displays mixed up - or lily's fans have all flocked to this site.

Who are you most excited to see this year at Bonnaroo?
  7.7% (2070) The Police ...
  10.6% (2828) Tool ...
  32.0% (8576) Widespread Panic ...
  5.4% (1451) The White Stripes ...
  44.3% (11862) Lily Allen ...
 total votes: 26787

tws were great i'd put this show a smidge better than the last show at merriweather partly because jack stuck to guitar most of the night... the singalone bits in the encore were way cool... but it's to really hard to be connected to what's going stage when you feel like your in another zip code

my comment about lily allen is multitracked vocals one microphone and she seemed out of breathe fairly quickly in the set... needless to say I didn't stick around long

Wilco was fantastic. Thanks for posting that simulcast link. I'll never have to go to a hot sweaty outdoor festival, watching it on the computer gives you a much better view. I had AC, dinner with a glass of cold white wine, and front row views. How could I have asked for anything more? I just wish I had seen the link before Sunday afternoon. I did have to turn it off a few songs into the White Stripes. They are total crap.

can someone please explain to me why widespread panic are so popular?  i hadn't heard of them until some school buddies took me to see them at the orpheum in boston, they played two night that sold out immediately.  i wasn't that impressed then, i was even less impressed last night watching them at bonnaroo.  these guys closed out the festival?  really?

I was gonna say the same thing, but yeah, that's a good explanation. Chances are, you won't like Phish either (if you've never heard or seen them...)

it was SOoooo great to watch it online...for an old lady who is pregnant and doesn't like crowds or hippies even when I'm at my best, it was a dream come true to be able to see the Wilco show like this

Really? Hmmm...I've listened a couple of times and I dunno...Perhaps not my thing? They are the only band playing in Ireland when I'll be there, and I'm somewhat disappointed. (They are jam/roots, right?)

Did you see the Flaming Lips' final encore?  It was Moonlight Mile (Rolling Stones).  If that's their usual thing, I didn't know it.  It was a really amazing end to that set.  The FL set felt like about the most crowded show all weekend.  During the FL set, we seemed to be next to a group having their first LSD experience and it was really funny to watch the immense joy they derived from glow sticks.

I tried to catch the superjam thing with JPJ, but once it got to be about 12:15 and it still hadn't started, I left just to being so worn out from seeing shows the whole day and wanting to be sure I had some energy left for Saturday and Sunday.  People said it was cool, lots of Led Zeppelin songs, including Dazed and Confused.

I'm not a huge Police fan, but I was happy enough with their set.  Tons of wailing by Andy Summers.

Gogol Bordello was a serious highlight, what a great live band.  Cold War Kids and The Hold Steady both drew huge crowds.  I was bummed to miss Hot Chip, but the Nightwatchman was great and felt like the right choice.  Tom Morello came out and jammed with Tool during Lateralus which was really cool.

The sound at Bonnaroo was really amazing at all the stages.  I am just amazed how they were able to fill up the huge areas in front of the two stages with such full, clear sound.

a wrong concept.  when phish dissolved, their fan base moved on to string cheese incident (horrible) and moe. (brilliant).  most of the widespread fans have steered away from phish, because of the crowds -- sometimes lame, "all about me and my high" kids who treated a lot of other people around them like crap, due to their drug fueled paranoid fits, and the such.  widespread fans are more laid back and easy going with smiles on their faces and handshakes to strangers they meet in the seats next to them.  the kids at phish shows always had an eye on you like you were undercover, ready to bust anyone around.  and boy could they stink.

widespread fans are rabid fans, hands down.  the band headlines any festival they play because they sell tickets.  what . . . this is their third year headlining bonnaboob?  like pearl jam fans, like jimmy buffet fans, like madonna fans.  bands with that much muscle behind them can headline and they can sell out every show; more power to a group that can weather the years and lose two lead guitarist and still be that popular.
