AVP was pretty awful.  But it also begs a sequel...what happens to that chick who survives?  Does she become a superhero?  As Daredevil begat Elektra, so AVP begats Superchick.

 GRRRRRREAT TOPIC, BTW

The worst movie I ever paid to see at a theater is Batman & Robin. The second worst is Godzilla (the 1998 remake with Matthew Broderick, not the classic original). Neither are in the past five years, but I mention them for context. I think Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is certainly one of the worst I've seen in the past couple years. It somehow managed to get everything wrong that the first Pirates movie got right.

Chronicles of Riddick.  But it Was interesting to note that in the far future they still use those toggle switches you can buy down at yer local ACE hardware.  Those simple toggle switches are gonna be around forever.  They were in ALIENS, too.

i saw twister when i was home one time to visit my parents.  holy shit was that ever stupid.  bill paxton might be the worst actor ever.  his performance in weird science was obviously superb though.

i think that what i cannot stand or abide about almost all of these movies is that they are just completely divorced from reality in every way imaginable.  i mean, i can be fine with whatever the initial premise of the movie is.  for instance, aliens invading the planet, but don't have the whole family reuniting in boston all happy and shit like the end of the war of the worlds.  what the fuck is that?  it's spielberg is what it is.  he's made some great flicks, but he cannot help it with the cheesiness in almost any film he has ever made.

Last five years?  Superman Returns.

Overall...probably Batman and Robin, though now I can go back and watch it and laugh at the silliness.
