What happened to 20 bands for 20 bucks?

"A special performance from the New York Dolls"

Does that mean that the other bands performances won't be special? Anytime Jimmie's Chickenshack and Citizen Cope appear on the same bill, it seems pretty fucking special to me.

A few years ago I went to a WHFS concert with a "special performance by James Brown".  He was sandwiched in between two flavor-of-the-minute radio bands and played (literally) for 10 minutes.  My ticket cost about 40 bucks - to see this.
So, as nice as it was to see the NY Dolls on the bill, I have serious reservations about buying a ticket to this one.  I doubt that Citizen Cope (??) and Jimmy's Chicken Shack (?!?!!?)  will be shown the same respect when it comes to the allotment of playing time.  In defense of HFS, NY Dolls isnt really their brand of music.  I don't think so anyway.

Some of y'all are frickin nuts.  Basically you want to see shit for free.  How much are tickets...less than $50.  For an entire day of music?  I don't get it, I thought you were music fans.

By chance, I fucking LOVE this lineup and am not supposed to be in town that weekend.  I'm cryin' in my Crystal (which I'm sure I'll be accused of drinking).

40-65 bucks really isnt that bad for a festival.  I actually like festivals, unlike most I've seen on this board.  The problem is this: As much as I would like to see a few of these bands, I don't want to pay that much to see them play 25-minute sets in a massive, concrete complex, stuck between bands I don't really care for.  I love Social Distortion, but do I want to see them play for a short period of time, from a half mile away, surrounded by drunken fratboys with Coldplay t-shirts?  Actually, who knows?  Maybe that sounds like a great idea.  I dunno.  The bottom line is that the huge venue and short sets and diluted (depending on whose opinion you get) lineup make it worth less than the ticket price.  To me anyway.
