yeah its pretty good, though a bit on what i would call the "precious" side.  also cost is on the high side.  but i'm very happy to have it on 9th st right around the corner from me and if you are a vegetarian or vegan its a great place.  i'll be very excited when the bar portion is open.  definitely a nice neighborhood addition.

looks a little pricey, but i'll venture over there at some point.  frequently on my way into dc for a show i head over to sunflower in vienna.

vegetatedc.com, not vegegatedc.com

Though the sentiment is nice, $16 for a plate of tofu is just absurd. And it's not like it's in a fancypants neighborhood.

The menu offers very little choice wise.

They'll be out of business in nine months.

I would love to see a branch of this place open up in DC...affordable, tasty, and a huge selection:

Or this place, which has the best food I've ever had anywhere.

But really, D.C. has nothing to complain about, particularly when there's an amazingly affordable vegetarian/vegan restaurant just around the block from the 9:30 club

Yes, but Millenium is not the kind of place you'd hit once a week. At least not on my salary...

Yes, but I can make a good tofu dish for four for way less than $16. Just the initial investment in a cookbook.

I'm not speaking specifically about Vegetate anymore.  Besides, in those situations it's not just the food/prep you're paying for.  The food has to be good, no doubt, but price-point should be determined by more than that.

And like I said - Soul Vegetarian - bbq tofu sandwich, side of potatoes and greens for less than $10 per person.  Not a bad deal at all.

vegetate is run by one of my favorite local DJs (Dredd) ... his Uncle Qs Living Room on Thursdays at Blue Room is fantastic, does anyone know if that's going away now that he has vegetate up and running?

dc has much better vegetarian options than we have here in richmond.  i'd be more satisfied with my options living in the dc area than i am here.  of course NYC (though i wouldn't ever live there), SF, austin, toronto have more interesting stuff than dc...

Though I haven't been to Austin, I agree with everything else you have said.

www.vegetatedc.com does have a fantastic looking DJ setup that i assume DJ Dredd will be spinning on once they get their liquor license and get the bar up and running.
