Collateral.

You MUST go to see this film.

I just saw it and feel it is one of the best films I have seen in recent years - hell, in a VERY long time.

I am not a huge fan of Tom Cruise but he was brilliant in this role - ice *cold*.

To borrow a phrase: Highly Recommended.

Agreed. It seems Cruise has been on a role ever since Eyes Wide Shut with his performances and choice of roles/screenplays.

I would hope you're excluding that pile of turd, Eyes Wide Shut. And were Vanilla Sky and Last Samurai cinematic masterpieces? I wouldn't know, having not seen them.

Vanilla Sky was really fantastic.  I watched it on DVD and thought it was quite cool, but then listening to the commentary by Cameron Crowe and Tom Cruise was just amazing and caused me to appreciate the film all the more.  I recommend the DVD to anyone....

Didn't see Last Samurai, and have no desire to...

Out of that pile I would say Last Samurai was probably the best.

Tom Cruise can only act one emotion, angry. When he is drunk, he plays an angry drunk, when he is stoned he is an angry pothead....

I dont think any of the movies could be considered great though, just forgettable fluff.

I would agree Last Samurai was the best, it could have been great with somebody better as Tom Cruise's character.

I thought Minority Report and Vanilla Sky were awful, just my opinion.

I remember thinking that his cameo in Magnolia was pretty good, but I hate that movie.

I still find it hard to make a clear judgement on Eyes Wide Shut. I am clear that there would have been better people for the lead roles than Cruise and Kidman.

I thought Collateral was very solid...Jamie Foxx impresses, and Mann is so good at what he does.

As far as Tom Cruise goes, I thought the Last Samurai was decent, and Minority Report and the others were pretty weak.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I've maintained that Eyes Wide Shut is the best movie Cruise has ever been in, and that will probably remain long after he expires. I don't care for Vanilla Sky as much as most seem to, but I still think it was a pretty good movie. I enjoyed Minority Report and The Last Samurai a lot more. I could care less for any of PT Anderson's movies except for Hard Eight, but Magnolia is definitely one of Cruise's best performances.. probably my favorite.
