i genuinely disagree with you though.. it just makes it more interesting to poke fun at your newbie status   ;)

That's cool too.  I'm just here getting good advice and news from other folks who listen to and love music as much as I.  It's all good -- new website or no!  It's not easy keeping up with so much great new music, so I do what I can.  Get a lot of good advice from the Boards, so thanks to everyone!

I hate it when newbies suck up all the time.

What's a gal to do...you regulars can be so imposing, what with your familiar chats, personal stories about each other and good-natured name-calling.

Maybe it's time for this newbie to start lurking again....

no need to start lurking... a new voice is always welcome here... the regulars are great people and i've meet most of them in person.  which is in part why you see personal chitchat here.

NO! New members are always welcome and keeps the banter fresh. Markie and I can only throw insults at each other for so long. Which brings up the question, "When are Rhett and Celeste coming back?"

Markie, turning 30 has been really traumatic for you, hasn't it?

Actually, I'm not really a newbie, though I hardly count as a regular.  But I've been a member since 2001 and probably have 100 posts under my belt.  The new system erased my 'history,' though, and shot me back to "posting #1."  I think I'll stick around -- as you'll see in the next paragraph, I need to amass all the street cred I can get.

No, I'm not a 35 year old guy with slippers and a pipe, but a 35 year old chick with doc martens and Marlboro lights, so I guess you weren't all that far off.  I am not into Q magazine, but have a friend who quotes it constantly.  Just because it's English doesn't mean it's not a gossip rag!!

Speaking of, what music mags do you regulars rely on?  I like Magnet, but am having a hard time finding good indie coverage.

yes, but Q is the last bastion of the middle aged sofa bound rock critic.

I will stick to the occsional foray into NME and internet radio for new music, cheers.

Very good choice!   ;)

Don't give in! A lot of what we think about age is all in the mind anyway. (Too bad all of it isn't.)

well I havent noticed any difference yet.....Well I do more exercise so my gut has actually shrunk since this time last year.

And besides at least I will never be as old as Mankie.

Oh and Elvis Costello said reading about music is like dancing about architecture.

Its more interesting to see if reviewers confirm or trash your opinions about music and acts you are already familiar with, in my opinion.
