the roots won't headline. they will close out the show. hfstival often ends the night with a band that's big, but not necessarily the most popular. last year it ended with paul oakenfold on night one and the x-ecutioners on night two (after eminem). so i think that that guy had some pretty good guesses... [/QB]
they just announced Jane's Addiction apparently, i may go and find some $20 tickets after all!

Got half way to the stadium... you know, listening to the normal immature HFS fare and heard Blur cancelled... turned around and came home.  It certainly makes sense.  Like I said before, Blur would be the biggest band there, but the band very few want to see.  Heck, the station and crowd are getting hyped for godsmack of all bands.  Apparently Damon finally realized he would not be worshipped up to his specifications.

Wow...Blur cancelled?  I would have been pretty mad about that. Seeing Jane's Addiction would have been neat, I've always wanted to see them, but I don't really think I would have had a great time.  Apparently some of the guys from Interpol went down to the Bob Mould/Loudbomb show at the Black Cat after HFStival.  I would be curious to know how their set went.

Well, after i decided not to go to HFStival, I won 3 tickets on ebay for $45, so i decided, for $15 it was an OK idea.
We got there a touch late (around 3pm) and could NOT find any lineups posted or anything, not even in the programs, which almost no one actually had.  By 3:30pm we found that Blur had cancelled and I had a good beer buzz going on.
We did catch the Roots, who were very very good and even brought Cody Chestnutt out for "the seed".  They didnt really seem to be playing to the "rock crowd" which made thier set more real than most hip hop HFStivalers (cypress hill especially). Jane's Addiction was way good too and had more energy than i expected, but HFStival short sets were thier demise , playing like 6 songs.
Interpol won my best band award, although no one seemed to know who they were, the people aruond me seemed to enjoy watching me jump around like a maniac, and so did the singer  :)
I had to sit through a usually bad GC set, and an extremely slow Audioslave set to hear Godsmack, who are not only friends of mine, but they kick ass for a rock band, and didnt let me down. And a hijacked press pass leading to many free drinks after the show didnt hurt either.
All in all, way worth $15 and I may even go again in September (an apparent 2nd festival of the year)

the only bad thing....beer ending at 7pm and getting kicked in the head during Godsmack....but i can deal  :)  I'm a tough Canadian!!!

who closed-janes addiction?

just didn't seem worth it to go when one of the 4 bands cancelled. though the roots set for a whole $15 might have been worth it.

a fall hfstival? at rfk? might be a bit tight if they are going to hold the women's world cup here and with mls season still going on.

Godsmack closed.  Jane's played at 5pm.  i guess they didnt close cause they were the "surprise guest"

and at the end of the festival, they thanked everyone for coming and said, "see you in september"

plus, I heard a few people throw it around after the show as well.

maybe they could have world cup and the hfstival at the same time....

the hfs, was a surprise this year, for many reasons....first off the surprise guest was Jane's Addiction!!!! that would have made it worth going alone, although, i do agree that a short set-time did hinder their performance, but it was still nice to hear the new material, which, Surprising to me mixed in well with the old favs, and no Jane Say's HA! It made me more pumped for Lollopalooza (too bad, it's a nissan)...another surprise of the HFS was that more bands then not really put on a good performance, the used was fantastic, the roots moved the unfamiliar crowd, afi and audioslave were both cool, I though chevelle was average although i like them, and good charlotte was the band that seemed to interest the majority of the audience and there set pleased there many fans...the final surprise , well almost, was that the crowd was slightly less obnoxious as in the last couple years...maybe it was the lack of scorching sun, which wasn't further frying the underage alcohalic frat boys, but most people were well (i use that losely) behaved.
the final surprise was that after audioslave set i left to find my window busted.....BUMMER, i quess they weren't as well behved as i thought..

Nothing like bringing a topic back from the dead...

Pollstar lists the Violent Femmes at RFK stadium on May 23.  The rumors on  hfstival.com say to look for a two day event with one day of crappy nü metal bands with misspelled names and one day (the 23rd I assume) with older stuff like the Femmes.  Can we hope for the Cure or the Pixies?

Man, I hope not!  I'd rather see the Pixies on their own.

uh, I'm sorry, but where do you see the bands' list for this year's hfstival?  I sure couldn't find it on whfs.com.

Coachella is about the only festival type situation where I could tolerate seeing the Pixies. They really belong in a club, on their own, where they can show off their nifty visuals.

It's simply speculation at this point.

So who is Velvet Revolver?  They were on a bunch of the 'speculative' lists, and they're not listed in allmusicguide.
