Doesn't look like the shows have been selling out...that being said, I'm really looking forward to seeing them and it should be a great setlist. I'm in for Philly and DC. Anyone else?
-
What kind of music do they play?
-
non-country
-
I'll be there probably planted in the front of Mani and I didn't even realize they released a new record last year.
Primal Scream run the gamut from the trippy to MC5 fueled blues rock, I'm curious as to what sound they these days.
-
I'm there! Don't forget...the DC show is Buy 1 Get 1 free ticket! :)
-
Definitely there.
-
I'll be there!
:)
-
me too!
;D
-
In.
Hopefully we get more experimental/electronic stuff than stones-sounding stuff.
-
My sister saw the Chicago show...they kind of blast through the songs. Kosmo, the last record (Beautiful Future) is REALLY good, one of their strongest IMO. We can expect a lot of stuff from that, Screamadelica, Xtrminator, and a few songs from Evil Heat, Riot City Blues and Give Out But Don't Give Up. I think it'll be a solid show. I'll never forget when Mani gave me his Corona when the Stone Roses were playing. He's a super nice guy, very outgoing. It'll be a fun time and will report from Philly.
-
Yeah I liked the new album, too.
All the guest appearances worked well. Even the girl from CSS who typically annoys me to no end.
-
I'll be there. First time seeing them.
-
ill be there in NYC. might try and hit the DJ set after the show with Mani at LPR.
-
I'm down!
-
I'll be at the NYC show. Be prepared for lasers and strobes. I am excited to hear Deep Hit Of Morning Sun which they have been playing on this tour. Oddly enough, my sister was also at the Chicago show.
-
I'll be there, looking forward to it. Hoping to hear a track or two from Vanishing Point, but I have a feeling that won't happen :-/ .
-
I liked them better in their Xterminator and Evil Heat days...but thinking about going to this...toss up between this, or staying in Baltimore to see Asobi Seksu.
-
standing in front of Mani's amp :)
-
Awesome evening and performance...something for everyone! Trippy, psychedelic blues, straightforward Stonesy rock, full on dance/electronica, total Stooges assault. They did it all and I think everyone will be into it. Don't miss this show!
-
I'll be there! Definitely looking forward to it.
-
so who is the opener? What are they like?
-
The opener is Kuroma. There are sound samples on their (his?) website:
http://www.kuromamusic.com/index.html
The website seems to lack a bio, but I found this article/interview online:
http://www.thetripwire.com/features/2008/10/17/on-the-cover-interview-kuroma/
-
I'm digging the songs over on the Kuroma website, the band's material will fit in nicely with Primal Scream set. The mini bio is it's the project of the bass player who was a foundering member in the Whigs and has also toured with MGMT...
-
took a look over a few setlists from this tour and it looks to be a great mix.....so i'll be going to this tonight
-
Seems like a lot of folks are going - are we still sure there are going to be tickets at the door? Definitely don't want to miss this...
-
I would be SO shocked if it was even close to selling out. There were maybe 150 people at the Philly show.

Wow. That's a real shame.
-
I guess this is one of the reasons why Pulp, Suede, Manic Street Preachers, etc. never tour the US!
-
That is sad (re. the Philly attendance)... I remember Primal Scream's show circa "Exterminator" as pretty well-attended.
In fact, there were even noisy meathead types who looked like they would have gladly beaten up the members of Primal Scream in high school, had they been given the chance.
-

Asobi Seksu seem to play in this area pretty frequently -- who knows when you'll get to see Primal Scream again?
-
They've cancelled their last few appearances. Asobi, that is.

For the Primal Scream show in Chicago at the metro the club was giving away tickets to the show if you were on the mailing list. Just shows they aren't selling out or selling well for their shows.
-
Massive show start to finish with the cool bonus of getting to hear the guitarist from Little Barrie as a member of the Scream.... Last four songs, Swastika Eyes, Movin' On Up, Rocks and <draws blank on song title> was fantastic
-
That was the best closing sequence of songs I've seen in a long while!
Agreed about the whole thing being phenominal, though.
The title you're having trouble thinking of is "Accelerator."
-
amazing show. Here is the full setlist if anyone is curious (taken from a copy from the stage)
kill all hippies
can't go back
miss lucifer
country girl
jailbird
bomb drops
beautiful future
deep hit
exterminator
suicide bomb
sick city
shoot speed/light kill
swastika eyes
movin on up
rocks
accelerator
got to meet most of the band afterward, talked alot with Barry, very nice guy. all of them were ace folks.
-
great setlist and great show. they really did blaze through all the songs
-
had high hopes for this show, but it was a big letdown. 'kill all hippies,' 'swastika eyes,' 'movin' on up,' were great. the rest of the set was a drag. the band didn't sound that tight, mani's bass needed to be louder, and the vocals were pretty shite.
all that country/rockability stuff was always going to be boring. too bad they played so much of it.
-

uh you don't know much about music, seeing as none of their stuff resembles country or rockabilly... try garage rock ala The Stooges or MC5 or blues rock ala The Rolling Stones.
-
Awesome show! Just wished more people had shown up. It's really a treat seeing a band this good playing a small venue like 9:30. If anyone wasn't digging the show then... well, they suck - etc. blah blah blah.
But yeah! Cool! Fucking Primal Scream!! Great set list too!!!

Primal Scream has been a lot of things . . .last night they were just a fun as sh*t rock band . . .Mani's bass could have been louder but it was still there, the sweet spot of every tune . . . and Innes tore it up . . . peak for me was Shoot Speed Kill Light . . .love that song
-
holy shit at the setlist.
i'm an idiot!
-
Really cool show friday night! Nice seeing Kosmo and I saw Bearman up front and then he vanished afterward. Don't know when they would ever come around again....
-
The show at Webster Hall was amazing. We were waiting in line to get in the club when all of a sudden a taxi door opens and out comes Mani and Bobby. It was a great way to start the night.
I couldnt stand Kuroma but thankfully it was maybe a 20 min set at most. They were pretty 'eh' and none of us liked them.
Didnt take long before Primal Scream came on. Early show starting at 9pm due to webster hall's club night, but the band seemed beyond excited to be back again playing in NYC. The crowd was just awesome - I dont think Ive met nicer fans in a long time. All the guys were letting me go in front of them so I could see and we were all dancing together.
While I cant say Im a huge fan of them, it had been nearly 20 years since I first saw them in SF for the Screamadelica tour. I really only knew most their early stuff - aside from Country Girl and a few other new songs. friend was disappointed nothing off of Vanishing Point - but I was super excited to hear 'Movin' On Up' and 'Higher Than The Sun'. "Swastika Eyes" before Movin On Up was easily the highlight. The place went nuts and it was just a frenzy of everyone dancing with their hands in the air. It felt like that scene in Trainspotting at the club where it was just one big group of people in unison dancing together.
It was a great show and I was so glad I didnt miss them. The place was pretty empty when I got there and it did manage to fill up. Not sure if it ever sold out. In general it was mostly an older crowd but with a ticket price of $40 at the door, it just felt so ridiculously expensive. I found quite a few people who couldnt get rid of tickets, which is usually pretty unheard of.
If anyone was the NYC show and happens to know the setlist - please post it here. Was trying to find it online, but havent yet found it.
-
I am STILL recovering from Friday night! I had the best time...the sound right up front was too focused on Innes' guitar, but ultimately I thought it was a great show. Anyone else go to the Backbar after the show? The entire band was down there, I ended up buying shots for most of them, LOL. Duffy, Mani, Darren, Innes were all so cool. I will report more later...it was really quite a great night!
-
Joe and I were down there briefly but Joe was being a bitch and wanted to leave like five minutes after we had gotten down there.
-
This is just awesome! Enjoy....

higher than the sun has never sounded more beautiful.
-
It was all about DEEP HIT OF MORNING SUN!!!!!!
-
I couldn't believe how "normal" the band was. I remember hearing the insane and legendary narcotic intake they had, but they were all so...dare I say this...ORDINARY? Not that that's a bad thing. Bobby Gillespie is incredibly shy, seemed like a nice guy but I think he was just steering clear of temptation. Mani is the clear extrovert. He told me that everyone in the Roses is on board for a reunion (yes, even John Squire), but Ian is the one holding out. Duffy was one awesome guy, so was Darrin Mooney. Kid Congo Powers was there too, got to hang out with him a bit. I thought it was kind of weak that they were charging $5 to get into the Back Bar, but at least the DJ was pretty cool. At one point I was buying shots for some of the guys in the band, LOL. Gillespie and Mani don't even drink, which I thought was interesting. I'm bummed they didn't play "Higher Than the Sun" and "Suicide Sally & Johnny Guitar", but "Accelerator" kicked ass, as did "Swastika Eyes", "Movin' on Up", "Deep Hit", etc. I need to get in better shape if I'm going survive the stretch of shows in May. My knees were KILLING me after Thursday and Friday nights. I got invited up for the NYC show, I'm bummed I didn't go, but I'd be SO useless this week if I had gone.
-
I'm guessing they charged that$5 in order to be able to pay the DJ's. They did the same thing post-Booka Shade on wednesday.
-
Bearman -- are they playing 'come together' at all on this tour? Ive not followed much of their tour but from what ive heard no one has mentioned it. sounds like an awesome time with the band.
-
Not that I'm aware of...at one point they were playing "Loaded", which I would have loved to hear, but "Come Together" hasn't been played in a while.
-

uh you don't know much about music, seeing as none of their stuff resembles country or rockabilly... try garage rock ala The Stooges or MC5 or blues rock ala The Rolling Stones.
i was just talking about their sound on 'riot city blues.' i guess 'country girl' was the only song from that album they played, but in my defense other tracks from that disc include: 'we're gonna boogie', 'nitty gritty', and 'dolls (sweet rock 'n roll).' you can call it whatever you want, it's still pretty weak stuff.
i was hoping to hear tracks from 'screamadelica' and 'xtrmntr,' and they played a bunch--the best tunes of the night.
p.s. also, you're right. i don't know anything about music.

Beautiful Future is a least being released in Digital format on 4/28 available at Amazon, probably Lala and Rhapsody and that other site.
