Would you be so kind as to inform another Alexandria resident who is also an old man (30) of these 3 bars? Daddy needs a new place to hang out.

I only go to maybe 3 bars, since they're all in Alexandria and I can walk or drive in under 3 minutes, so I'm probably not a big help.  Plus, I'm an old man and don't know what the kids do anymore.

One other thing I remembered... the Palace of Wonders is 21+ on H Street NE and a hell of a lot of fun.

 http://www.palaceofwonders.com/

As for the M Street corridor, that whole area is to be avoided at all costs.  It's full of people who drive Lincoln Navigators, seek "digits," and say "holla."

We live in the Del Ray area, right off of Mt. Vernon Ave, so we generally stick to Evening Star (and the cafe upstairs) and Rustico.  I really like the atmosphere at both, and the beer selection at Rustico is out of control.  I spend more time deciding than I do drinking.  But both are extremely close to us (we can walk to Evening Star) so I'm biased.

As for Old Town, I pretty much like just drinking at the restaurants.  I haven't been in a while, but the happy hour pitchers of sangria at La Tasca are cheap and never-ending: I'm pretty sure I got a full 12 glasses out of one, and that wasn't counting the number my wife got.  And the bar underneath Flying Fish (the sushi place on the 700 block, which I can't recommend enthusiastically) can be fun, although at times its a little loud.

Any regular spots you go?  I'm always up for finding new places.

it wasn't a typo.  I always use "meat-up."  I thought it was a widely accepted internet phrase.

and I still don't know what I'm going to do.  way too overwhelmed here.

I think people got confused because on this board it's called a "meat-down."

A couple directions:

 1.  Go to all the 21 and over places that you couldn't get into before.  Don't stay, don't pay, don't drink, just get in for once.  See what they were keeping from you (not much).

 2.  Find a club with a band you like, rock out and have a beer.

 3.  Do somethin non-alcoholic.  It is a change to not party up your 21rst.  Still maybe hit a liquor store to get a bottle of night train or some other drain cleaner.

Then again I worked s concert on my 21rst.
