oh well, not your fault he didn't play ... but i'm still not convinced the argument holds water even if he was in

explain again why on earth we'd want to have AVG and OBP?

I would prefer this to be 162 (just to please the baseball gods).

 And 1500 Innings if we're doing W, S and H.  1300 is fine if we're not doing holds. [/b]
the more innings, the better to me.  i ran out of IP last year in one league i was in.  it kind of sucked.  there were like 2-3 weeks left in the season too!

Not OBP; I'm talking about OPS - combining slugging and on base percentage.

I can't really.  I just didn't like BB as it's own category.

I'm impartial to OBP or OPS, but considering AVG makes up over 90% of one category and HR plus AVG makes up a good percentage of the other, in a HR only league, I really don't think one is that much better than the other.

I personally like BB as an individual category when coupled with AVG.  I recognize it may not be as great as OPS or OBP in valuing players.  But it allows you to draft a bit more strategically.  Gives certain players some more value, and trims value from others.

Well, I'll jump in again this year - should be able to improve on last year's mediocre showing...

draft is this saturday .... i also have open spots in my league:

 ---------------------------------------

 Hey everybody,

I'm running another Fantasy Baseball league this year.  Just like last year, we're doing a "Fantasy Points" league instead of a traditional roto-style league (get ranked 1-10 in every category) or a head-to-head league.  If you weren't in our league last year, it's very similar to Fantasy Football, your player gets (or loses) points for everything that he does.  After using a variation of this system last year, I think we've worked out the kinks and this should work really well.

For all of you who are afraid of the new system and are a bit wary of signing up, don't be.  It actually works out to be very close to how players would be ranked if you pick up a FB magazine or draft kit online.  Only big difference is that holds are counted, so set-up men like Tom Gordon have more value.  When you sign up for the league, click on "Players" and take a look at last year's stats, sorted by "Fantasy Points", which will show you how things will sort out.

 Buy-in will be $25:  1st place gets 50%, 2nd gets 30%, 3rd gets 20%.

The draft will be two Saturdays from now, April 1 at 12:30pm EST.

Oh, and please feel free to forward this to anyone you think would be interested.

Last year was my worst year ever, I started of 27-8 and ended up like 54-90.  Horrible, horrible, horrible.
