Fantasy Baseball?
« on: February 08, 2006, 01:24:00 pm »
So football is over.

Spring training is two weeks away.

Is there enough interest on here for having a 9:30 Club Fantasy Baseball League?

I'll get one started if so.

Okay.  League is created.  Anybody interested in playing, send me a Private Message and I'll give you the info.

It is a 12 person league - first 11 to get in touch.

 Trade Review:    League Votes

Post Draft Players:    Follow Waiver Rules

 Max Games Played:    170

 Max Innings Pitched:    1300

 Weekly Deadline:    Daily - Tomorrow

Start Scoring on:    Sunday, Apr 2

 Roster Positions:    C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF,
OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

Stat Categories:    R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG, OPS, W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

Open to amending these if somebody has strong objection to something, but I think these are pretty standard categories.  I don't like defensive categories by general rule.  Yahoo is also fairly limited in pitching categories - these are really the best options available, in my opinion.  Its a slight emphasis on hitting, but you're forced to draft for holds to compensate.

it should be the same set up as last year. just for consistency's sake. i won't play in a league with holds, that's for sure.

I have no idea how last year's league was set up, as I wasn't involved in it.

And what's the problem with holds?  You're forced to draft at least one player to fill the role.

What do you suggest in lieu of that for pitching?  I hate K/BB or K/9, and other stats like "Innings Pitched" or crap like that is bogus.

classic 5x5 always gets my vote, although obp instead of average would be fine w/me, too. other than that, it just gets confusing. but whatever, i've got a title to defend, so as long as smacke is in, i'm in.

What are the classic 5x5 and 4x4 categories again?  I've been playing custom leagues so long that I don't remember.

this is what i'm doing for the point-only league i'm running this year ... i still need to tweak some of the pitching stats, but i really like the direction it's going in:

 Stat Modifiers:

 R (5), RBI (5), SH (2), SF (2), SB (5), CS (-3), BB (3), IBB (1), HBP (3), K (-1), GIDP (-3), TB (5)

 W (40), L (-10), SVOP (-40), SV (80), TBF (3), ER (-4), BB (-1), HBP (-1), K (1), WP (-1), BLK (-1), SB (-1), GIDP (1), HLD (40), TB (-1)

i may have an opening or two, i'll post on here if i do
