Vineland Music Festival - NJ - Aug 8-10

The inaugural Vineland Festival originally scheduled for August 8-10 in Vineland, N.J., has been moved to early summer 2009, promoters announced January 25th.
 Promoters Festival Republic and C3 Presents decided to back away from the initial time frame because of overall festival traffic in the northeast and big bands touring through the area at the same time, the promoters said in a statement.
 After Festival Republic (Melvin Benn�??s company and a division of Live Nation) and C3 announced Vineland, the promoters of Coachella announced a festival in the same market on the same weekend. Virgin Festival is also planned for that weekend.
 "The co-producers did not want to force music fans to choose between three events on the same weekend," the statement said. "While disappointed with the delay, they believe the overall health of the festival business and the music industry takes precedent over any of their singular objectives."

 Organisers of the Vineland Festival have decided to push back the launch of the event until 2009.
 
 The announcement was made today in light of the fact that a rival festival �??All Points West�?? has been scheduled for the same weekend in the same state of New Jersey.
 
 Vineland is jointly put together by organisers of Reading/Leeds and Lollapalooza and was scheduled to take place August 8-10 in Vineland, NJ.
 
 The press release states that the organisers did not want fans to have to choose between three events the same weekend (they did not specify what events) and that the plan is to move the festival to �??early summer 2009�?�.

theory: the reason why festivals happen on same weekend is so organizers can share the cost of big tickets acts.  they need a new weekend where they can pair up with another festie to share headliners.
 
 less conspiratorial: time crunch.  at this point they might not have enough time to secure a new site & permits, and then book big acts.  you need the first two before you can do the booking.
