You should think yourself lucky..when I was your age we couldn't afford a car....we couldn't even afford shoes. I had to walk 50 miles each way in my bare feet to work a 12 hour shift down't pit, then go home and change the chamber pot for my grandad. We couldn't afford food for all of us so I had to pick the bits left in grandma's false teeth.

I remember in college a friend had an Audi where all four windows were electric and didn't work and no air conditioning.  We would just open the doors for a quick breeze.  
 
 Off track, yeah that is the bs they give, any window that doesn't work is "off track".  Sort of the lazy definition.
 
 So did you check the fuses?  Getting a window on track is not too hard, keeping it on track can be harder.  There are many good junk yard resources around here (Crazy Rays has a good Hyundai section).

Older Audi's were notorious for failing window motors...my 85 GT Coupe passenger side window didn't work, and my wife's 85 4000 passenger and one of the rear window motors were shot too. Luckily both cars had strong a/c.
 
 I think the deal with the "off the tracks" excuse is that it's a very difficult thing to adjust so lazy mechanics can't be arsed to fool with it. Hey, the bloody thing doesn't work anyway so why not pop the door panel off and fiddle with it yourself...not like you can break it any more than it already is.

Good point.  I had to clean and regrease all the windows on my 67 Lincoln continental.  It has electric windows all around, and they even all work.  That is truly a pimp-o-licious car.
