stereotyping this idiot would be to assume that he liked slipknot/sevendust because of his noxious jingoism, or to assume that because of his jingoism he liked slipknot/sevendust.

 i did neither. [/b]
but you were not surprised that both jingoism and slipknot/sevendust liking went hand in hand.
   its the same thing. [/b]
well, it was really more the bad grammar than the jingoism ... and yes, i'll be the first to say that fans of the decemberists have a better command of grammar than fans of slipknot!  i'm a stereotyper!!

you know, honestly, i didn't attend this show, but if i had CAMPED OUT to get fucking tickets, and waited in line all day, and paid money to see a band, no matter how big or small the fucking venue is, that band better play like its their last show ever.  to say that the band is going on a stadium tour later this summer and will "put on a show for you then" is absolute crap, and one of the worst statements i've ever heard.  if you're in a band, i don't care how big you are, what label you're on, or what kind of "guerilla" tour you're doing: if you're playing a show, and people paid their hard earned money to see it, and took time out of their lives to see your live show, you better play your ass off.

a lot of fans went out of their way in a huge way to get tickets to this show, due to the strict ticket policy. and for a band to play a half-assed show is just unexcuseable.

you play your ass off every night, no matter what city you're in, who is watching you, or how much they paid to get in.  because i guarantee in that "small" crowd, at least one person sacrificed something that meant a lot to them to see your show.

 fuck system of a down.

so what do you say to all those people who get upset because the concert was cancelled?  it's not like it's SOAD is going to happen at the 9:30 club again anytime soon.  you take the good with bad and move on, or have a heart attack in your 50s

 fuck system of a down.
And fuck you too.  Bet you heard that a lot in your lifetime, huh?  Damn, I knew system had a lot of dumb fans but you and hitmeinthenutsack are vying for top honors.  I mean, slamming the band when YOU WEREN'T EVEN THERE?  That's pretty weak.

First of all, where did anyone in the band say "we're gonna put on a show for you in the summer" as if to say they made a consious decision to screw their fans and put on a half ass show?  That's right, nobody.  That ridiculous assumption is part of your idiocy but also part of your charm.  They played 20 songs.  They couldn't even been any tighter as a band.  What does that say about the band?  If anything, you should have MORE respect for the band.  They could've easily cancelled the show.  But they knew their fans were camping out and they didn't want to let us down.  They've been sick for a week and they even had to cancel their Toronto show.

Those who slept out on the sidewalks got a fantastic show.  Only those who bitched about it don't realize how good of a show they got, considering the circumstances.

Kosmo is right.  This was a special performance you should be very lucky to have seen for a band as big as sytem that won't be doing these intimate club shows again any time soon.  Guaranteed.  I'll take this any day of the week over an arena/stadium show where the band is 100 feet away from you and the sound is muddy and fucked up.

Please tell me you'll stop listening to the band.  The average IQ of system fans will jump up a couple points no doubt.

and there was talk off shuting down the board for a couple of days, but cooler heads prevail if only for the entertainment value it would provide for the regulars of reading about the pre and post concert experience   :D

Such hostility!  Such emotion!  And all for a band that, after this week, probably won't come up on the board again until the pre-sale for their August show is announced.    :D

All joking aside, sounds like they did their best to put on the best show they could under less-than-perfect circumstances.  And a lot of fans loved the show.  That's always a good sign.

Where's Rhett to try to quantify the value of the show based on the amount of time played divided by price and relative relevance of the band...?

It's probably the same guy who bitched that the Beastie Boys showed up 4 hours late because it was out of their control with the plane and the weather.

Really, you have no room to bitch about it. You weren't even there.  Are you in a band? Do you know what touring is like? Pretty much if one guy gets the flu, damn good chance the rest will get it too. Buses aren't that big and germs spread quick. They could have easily have cancelled. Then what? We'd hear you bitching that they cancelled the show. Can't win huh? Oh and no one was waited in line all day after they got their tickets in the morning. I walked by sometime after 7:15am yesterday and I only saw two staph people at the door...3 or 4 if you count ThatGuy multiple times. The crowd of people for the tickets were gone.

The Deftones did a guerilla style show and they played for 2 hours (approx) it was awesome. It was only them. They came back and played a stadium show out in Baltimore for Summer Sanitarium. I skipped it because why would I want to see a shorter show.  Then they came back and played at Nation. Possibly one of the worst sounding large venues anywhere for a rock band to play. I went, and you know what, nothing was better than the show at the 930 Club for the guerilla style show.

Ya know, it's funny, everyone's judging my IQ from a two paragraph statement that I typed in like a minute, but from the looks of the system fans in line last night, it's definitely safe to say they spent their last 30 dollars and probably dropped out of high school.  I wish this place had like pictures of everyone on here because that would be fucking hilarious, all of those against me are probably the biggest fucking dorks.  Hell, I'll email everyone a pick of me; guarantee you won't talk shit then.  And to the statement about slipknot fans having a low IQ, How the fuck could you possibly know that?  Slipknot is so much fucking better than soad.  So much more energy, not a bunch of pussies crying about the flu, whoopty doo, I'm an armenian jew.  Has anyone heard of trivium?  Check them out, now the're a hard hitting, high energy band.  Ascendancy in stores now, check it out bitches!

why don't you just post the pic?  i'm sure your physical superiority will cause us all to gasp a bit, then beg for your forgiveness.

oh, and can you please stick around for a while?  i like having someone here to personally confirm all the characterizations i make on this board.  have any emo friends you could invite over?
