Hey all.  Despite taking up 45 minutes of my precious vacation time in Montreal to try to get tix, I failed.  I stood outside the show for about two hours hoping to score some last minute tix from a fellow fan or any last minute releases from the box office.  I gave up at about 9:30 (coincidentally).  Did anyone get any tix after that time?

I have seen SP three times now - once at the 700 Club in Columbus, Ohio on the Gish tour, once at Lolapalooza and once at some stupid arena in Cleveland.  I'm sure the show last night rivaled two of the three although it's tough to beat seeing them in what is today a lobster restaurant.    Too bad it's only 1/2 the original gang.

That's funny, I go to a lot of shows too and follow the opposite rules (except for wearing the shirt).  I like listening to the music beforehand and looking at setlists - gets me pumped for the show.

overall - the show was fanfuckingtastic. i would go as far as to give it an 8.5 or 9/10 again... the crowd left some left to be desired. i had a really annoying guy behind me that insisted on trying to talk to everyone about how much he loved the pumpkins but then asked where D'Arby was. *ahem* but i digress...

preshow i managed to meet up with julian and ratbastard, and got several dirty looks from folks who thought i was skipping line.

i had a fabulous time in the front, was lucky enough to be one of the first 200 folks in (and i didn't even get there till a bit after 5) and really enjoyed the preshow theatrics. highlights of the set for me were the acoustic version of 'rocket,' 'fuck you,' 'aeroplane' and of course 'starla.' i do admit that i did get a bit irritated during 'gossamer' but jimmy's drumming helped me through.

after the show it was great meeting everyone and putting names with faces - sweetcell, bnyced, nkotb, director. luckily i didn't have to invoke the creepy clause  ;)

Hippie drum circle + screaming chick + Hammond organ someone found at a garage sale.

 Ugh.
During the last song they brought their friends up on stage, it was like we were forced to watch a high school drama club reunion.  I would've prefered to listen to the barber shop quartet for those 30 mins.  Actually silence would've been better.

I'd give the show a 7.5.  It was really great for the most part, but 'blue skies bring tears' really slowed the energy down imo.  That version of Heavy Metal Machine was pretty bad too...  But they played AEROPLANE and HUMMER...  Shit yeah, amazing stuff.  Fuck You destroyed as well.

BIG BIG BIG Thank you to the club for making this run smoothly and getting everyone in before the show actually started. Had to wait maybe 15 minutes to get to the will call spot and that was starting out all the way around the block.  The bartenders were working their asses off but hardly had to wait in line for a beverage. There was some problems here and there with people not getting enough fluids in their system as they just collapsed to the ground. Staph was immediate on the response both times I saw it happen.

I was a bit surprised at the energy of the crowd from the beginning. Jimmy fucking Chamberlin comes out after the B#s and starts beating on the toms and the crowd let out a half-hearted cheer.  :)

Did anyone else catch the guy getting escorted/carried out the doors at the end?  Something tells me he wasn't suffering from dehydration...

Was this why the guy was selling the Hendrix shirts in line before the show?

I was standing next to this girl in the front who had been to SEVEN of the nine Asheville shows. She passed out near the beginning of the set. I felt bad that she passed out, but not horrible since she had been to SEVEN of freaking nine Asheville shows.

But yea, staff handled the pass-outers very well, and afterwards starting handing out free water.
