At least the Red Sox look like dirtbags.
Because it's baseball, not Rock and Roll.

Some of the Sox look like dirtbags because they are. Mark Bellhorn, Alan Embree, Scott Williamson, and Trot Nixon are all white trash. [/b]

QUOTE]Don't forget Kevin Millar.  COWBOY UP!!!!!!! loser [/QB][/QUOTE]

Yeah.  This was the cry-baby who agreed to go to Japan when his option or something wasn't picked up by the Marlins (I believe) and they sold his rights.  Then days later when the Red Sox showed interest, he started pissing and whining about his family, and appealed to MLB to help.  Didn't seem like much of a cowboy then?

Living with World Championship jealousy and envy must be a bitch.
maybe, but i pretty much think most of what J Stark writes is crapola.  American media can be poor at times, and he is an example. no matter who he writes about.

(i didnt completely discard it though, did i?)

so you like the Yankees because they are all fine educated upstanding citizens? [/b]
No, I like the Yankees because I was born and raised in NY, and they are my hometown team, not that it needs explanation. Shouldn't you be rooting for the Blue Jays or something?

i do.  but the Canadian part side of my family never took me to any baseball games, my relatives from the US (Boston) did every time i went to see them.  I even went to a playoff game in 1986. when i was just a little shaver.

Funny, that's how one of my best friends became as Kansas City Royals fan. Poor bastard.

The best take on lasts night fiasco in Oakland:

"Oakland -- where beer flows more freely than intelligent thought"

Put that on a billboard, I dare you.  I'll even pitch in.

Having had the pleasure of attending nearly 25 games in Oaktown this year and last, I can honestly say that I'm not at all surprised about what happened last night (except that Frankie threw the chair, which is just moronic!).  I've had to change seats at least 6 times to avoid confrontation, and only half of those were when I was watching Anaheim.  The other three times I was just a passive attendee who had to leave because of other people fighting.

Sure, this happens at Raider games like Courtney Love gets high, but it didn't used to be like this at A's games in the past.  Or did it?

when growing up, giants games were generally much worse than a's games, but then they moved into pacbell, and increased prices and costs to keep the less-desireable out. . .so, they must have moved to a's games.

however, with the raiders moving in, they've increased the number of beer and hard alcohol concessions, and the a's decided to open them up during the season.  i will say that there is a still a great degree of contempt for the giants/49ers from oakland fans.  oakland fans see themselves as the beer, jack drinkers, and see giants/49ers fans as sushi eating, chardonnary drinking wannabes.  i recommend the hbo special about the 1970s a's and raiders for background.

nevertheless, philly phans are still worse.

I've driven to Philly for many Phillies games, and never had a problem.

I wore a Steeler jersey to a Ravens game and found out that at least 35% of the crowd were also wearing Steeler jerseys. So anytime a stupid Raven fan said anything, we had plenty of backup. And believe me, they said something even though they were trailing the game pretty easily from beginning to end.

I went to a Cardinals game in Philly when JD Drew was still on the team, it got a little scary when he was at the plate
